Sounds like the data is either missing, or you did not have syst restore turned on for the drive you are working on.

Did you ever create a restore point?

Try creating one now. Then see if any older ones show up.

You have to create a restore point in order to "restore" it. You will find instructions in Windows help. A good idea to make a restore point after doing a lot of configuring on your PC.

With no restore point you can only go back to imm after the operating system was installed - not a great option.

Well....it’s too late now, but the default setting should be turned on unless someone turned it off, which is pretty common in some circles...

Go to control panel....look for system.....then go to system protection...

The page should tell you is sys/restore is turned on for the drive..

Some viruses interfere with system restore to try to stop you from using it, that may be what is going on.

Try rebooting, then pressing the F8 key on the keyboard before the Windows screen comes up. Select “Safe Mode with Networking Support” from the boot menu. Then try running System Restore in that mode and see if it works.

If you can’t even turn it on, you have a bigger issue.

It’s possible, (assuming you did not delete your own restore points by turning it off inadvertently, that a worm got into your computer and damaged the restore sys application.

if that is the case, you need to wide the drive and reload and update the OS, after backing up your data.

Why not. If you've already lost your data, you might as well double down and lose all you software and a butt load of money too.

Why are you trying to go to a previous date?

What’s wrong with your computer now?
