Agreed 100%.
There is a formula that creates a need for the listener to hear what is coming next. A build up that teases a conclusion is coming but may get delayed, layered again until you run out of “OUTS” and then explode while simultaneously reinforcing the original back beat that got the whole thing started.

Again, interesting. I generally see a song as an exercise in storytelling. (Not that the two are mutually exclusive.)
