I’m not a pure metal thrasher guy. I’m more into lyrics combined with the composition that rocks. More of a punk thrasher if you will. I’m old.
When I listen, I try to pick out every aspect of the whole sound and how they are intertwined. Shifting my focus from the words to the back beat to the leads that come in and out. The transitions and how it all fits together.
From a purely technical aspect, I would suggest King Crimson’s 3 albums that included Adrian Belew.

Belew is a genius that in addition to putting out his own “studio” work, he was a major influence on bands from the Talking Heads, NIN, Tool and others.
It’s difficult to point to one or more songs because I don’t know what your thinking, what sound YOU are going for.

You can thrash all day and I love it or you can put your words at the fore front. There is a huge huge difference.

I can think of songs that match the criteria that you describe - I was asking your opinion because tastes in music can be pretty subjective.
I’m really not going for any particular sound per se - I try things and see if they work, and if I like them I use them. I consider myself a songwriter rather than a performer, though - I aim to have other people play my songs, and if that ever happens they will no doubt have their own interpretations.

I don't know if that's the best 'live' album, but it's up there for that genre, and live.
Edgar Winter Group, live, in person --- that was heavy duty. The recordings --- don't do them justice. Technical excellence.
Saw them in Dallas once, a long time ago. Memorable, and at the time I didn't like EWG recordings nearly as much as that Made in Japan album. We played the wheels off of that one.
Saw Nazareth in Dallas at the same venue as EGW (but not at the same time).
Didn't care for them in recordings all that much either, but they too in person, would really get with it. But still not quite in the same league as Edgar Winter, and the musicians he had traveling them back in those days...
