We had three horses when the kids were young, one old mare that they ‘learned on’, already named ‘Beauty’ when we got her but she was not, lol.
My twin daughters raised Lambs for the Stockshow and used their winnings to buy a pretty Bay mare and a Palomino mare. I used to enjoy riding them myself.
I once wrote a long story here of how I got caught out in a pasture, surrounded by cattle, after I walked way out there to look at a saddle in a barn. It was scary, they thought I came to feed them, hehe.
Our neighborhood was full of kids back then and a couple of teenage neighbor boys taught me how to give shots and take care of cuts/wounds. Sometimes ‘somebody’s’ horse would get out of their pasture and we’d all be hunting it down, lol.
The ‘good’ old days...

Yes, thank you. All is well.
I cancelled my follow-up appointment with my cancer surgeon tomorrow
and moved it to after my next chemo session on Wednesday the 22nd.
I haven’t seen her since January, and I don’t know exactly what she’s
going to do, but it’s apparently going to be a 15-minute examination,
since it’s scheduled for 1:15 p.m. ;-)

I’m glad to hear that TOL. You looked good in the Texas gun-shoot thread. I didn’t realize some of you were going to be down in the Rockport area as I keep an RV-Camper down there. Keep doing what you’re doing and prayers from many are a help!

Thank you!
I always welcome prayers. They’re greatly appreciated.
Maybe Bryan and I will see you at the next Texas Cowboy Memorial Shoot.
That would be nice.

When I was a kid, palomino was my favorite color. It is still striking, and I don’t see many. Now I love black because of my favorite horse, and bay is always nice. I am staring to appreciate my gray-white horse’s color. He gets called Handsome by the ladies where I take horsemanship lessons. He is very muscle-y, like The Muscles From Brussels, looks like he works out a lot but he doesn’t. He’s burly. I call him Large and In Charge, but I am actually In Charge as his herd leader. He’s a good horse. I was so devastated when my black horse died suddenly 2 years ago, it’s taken me 2 years to form a good bond with the white horse. He is also not a human oriented horse and was harder to win over than my black horse.
The cattle story is funny. One time many years ago, I was visiting a friend to see her horse, who was in a pasture with many others. I should have brought my training stick (Parelli Carrot Stick) to defend myself. All the horses thought we brought them treats and surrounded us, and of course it was not safe to have that many near us with no way to defend ourselves. I never go into a situation with more than 2 horses that are loose, without my stick anymore.

The Likes of Us July 14, 2015
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
Matthew 9:38 niv
In the late 19th century, William Carey felt a call to travel to India as a missionary to share the good news of Jesus. Pastors around him scoffed: Young man, if God wants to save [anyone] in India, He will do it without your help or mine! They missed the point of partnership. God does very little on earth without the likes of us.
As partners in Gods work on earth, we insist that Gods will be done while at the same time committing ourselves to whatever that may require of us. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, Jesus taught us to pray (Matt. 6:10). These words are not calm requests but holy demands. Give us justice! Set the world aright!
We have different roles to play, we and God. It is our role to follow in Jesus steps by doing the work of the kingdom both by our deeds and by our prayers.
We are Christs body on earth, to borrow Pauls metaphor in Colossians 1:24. Those we serve, Christ serves. When we extend mercy to the broken, we reach out with the hands of Christ Himself.
Lord, You have called us Your friends. In some small way, help us to show Your love to this hurting world so they will know You.
Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God. William Carey
Matthews gospel presents Jesus to the Jewish people as their long-promised Messiah. Matthew primarily uses two methods to make this powerful assertion, both of which were intended to resonate deeply with his audience. First, he repeatedly uses Old Testament Scriptures that describe Christ and are fulfilled in Jesus. Second, a critical part of Matthews argument for Jesus as the King of the Jews was Jesus compassionate power on display. This is seen in Matthew 9 where Jesus rescues the broken, the hurting, the marginalized, and the hated.

Most of us meet Mr. Carey half way. The harder part is the other half.

Happy Tuesday, FRiends.
Been a busy summer; Marissa leaves Sunday for a week at Church Camp.
Hopefully I will be able to finish up some bookwork at that time.
Seems that all I do is procrastinate. I'm getting good at that!!
I want to thank all of you for being here.
Because of you, it is impossible not to check in daily. LOL
Your fault that I get nothing accomplished. ;~)
We are planning a vacation the first week of August.
Looking for cooler weather in Mammoth Lakes and Reno/Tahoe.
We will have a week between camp and the start of school.
Sure there will be several necessary things we will need to do that last week.
Take care and big Hugs.

A Kitten
He's nothing much but fur
And two round eyes of blue,
He has a giant purr
And a midget mew.
He darts and pats the air,
He starts and cocks his ear,
When there is nothing there
For him to see and hear.
He runs around in rings,
But why we cannot tell;
With sideways leaps he springs
At things invisible -
Then half-way through a leap
His startled eyeballs close,
And he drops off to sleep
With one paw on his nose.
