Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has once again come in for a barrage of criticism as a result of his comments about immigration into the United States. This time Trump has latched onto the tragic murder of tourist Kate Steinle who was shot and killed Wednesday at Pier 14 in San Francisco. Trump used the announcement of his presidential campaign to brand Mexican immigrants as “Criminals, drug runners and rapists.” Trump’s comments have been widely criticized as xenophobic and have led to his being dropped by NBC and Nascar amongst others.

The wall should be built, but the answer is in the rule of law.
We need to detail illegals who are caught, not release them pending a hearing that they will not bother attending. They should be held at the border until a hearing, which should take minutes, not weeks. We need a law saying illegals should then be fingerprinted, DNA-swabbed, retina-scanned, and permanently denied any path to citizenship or even legal entry. Illegals should be deported, with assets (if any) seized up to the cost of the hearings and deportation. Out of respect for the rule of law, we should return (after taxes) the remainder of their assets into an account in their home countries.
We should enforce employment laws, imposing the maximum legal penalty per illegal employee on employers paying under minimum wage or other employers who know or should have known that their employees were illegal aliens. We may be required by humanitarian values or by law to provide education and medical care to illegals, but Immigration officials should pick up illegals at school or follow them home to collect them with their families, and they should be sent to their home counties.
We need a law that “sanctuary cities” will be denied federal funds up to the cost of enforcing immigration law in those cities, and then Immigration officers should make a special effort to round up the concentrated illegals in those cities. The survival of our country depends on the rule of law, and we need to restore that standard - admittedly an impossible task until the petty tyrant in our White House is removed from the office he has usurped, on january 20, 2017.

Improper use of quotation marks.
I would suggest that it is at least as critical to hold companies responsible for ensuring that their contractors are obeying employment law.
For example, Walmart and other large companies routinely use contractors that they know are using illegals, for janitorial and such work, but pretend to be "shocked" when it is discovered.
They know, of course, for the simple reason that the price charged is too low for the contractor to be in compliance.
When the company's own interests are directly impacted, as in requiring insurance coverage, the company has no problem documenting compliance, but is unable to handle the paperwork for employment law compliance? I don't buy it.
No. I called Costco manager to inquire and complain about a situation affecting me where Costco favored a group of Mexicans up for the day he yelled at me.
