I live in a rust-belt town. Most of my neighbors are the grandchildren of eastern European immigrants. Many are, like me, the children of World War 2 veterans. The majority I'd classify as JFK democrats, old-school conservative democrats.
From my front yard I can see one other American flag out today besides mine. One other flag, out of perhaps 25 houses.
I agree with you, propaganda has won a great victory for the left.
There are lots of holiday-ers out this weekend. Both neighbors have family and are eating outside. But know what you mean about things not being as they used to be. I grew up in this house and we used to have big fish fries and pot lucks with the entire neighborhood in these three yards. That was back when everyone knew each other. These days, the original property owners have either had to sell out or are renting their places to weekenders to pay the property tax. Sadly, I was just lamenting about how things have changed.
Its a little strange (joyfully), I just told my daughter and family, its been a long time since I have seen as many flags as I have seen today as well as all week here in my area. I live in south central PA. I have seen numerous houses with small flags encircling the entire front of people’s lots. There had to be several that had at least 100 flags along the sidewalk. I and about 1/2 of my neighbors, about 20 houses on my street, have flags out. Some have one large and others, like myself have a large one and smaller ones near the street. Very nice.
Pflugerville, Texas isn't a bastion of conservatism (the liberals ruin Austin and then live in the 'burbs to escape their own liberal taxes/laws/rules and "sanctuary city" fallout), but we're holding on.
Been thinking of running for city council on a platform of my being "Adult Supervision" just to keep rein on the California immigrants who, having escaped California want to make Texas just like it.
Everywhere here in northern Michigan. In the hands of children walking the streets of Grayling and most of the homes on my road have one out as well. Except mine. I have yet to finish moving.
Probably about 1 in every 8 or 9 houses in our neighborhood are flying American flags today. Not too bad, but should be more. Several of us fly them every day.
Mine it’s up, such as it is, on the antenna of my motor home.
Mr C4E put our flag out this morning. Several people in our park have their flags out. A neighbor down the street has her front yard lined with small flags. God bless her.
My flag is always flying, and there are a few others on my street. Didn’t think to count, though.
Last year, a few days before the 4th, I was in a hardware store and an oriental woman was there with her young daughter buying a flag.
At least SOME people don’t take this great country for granted.
I’m in northern lower Michigan today, so there are still lots of country boys showing the colors. Some Dixie flags as well. It was pretty funny.
But I’m not into it this year. Just going to go home and watch some movies.
Lots of Old Glories flying.......and many RBFs on the back of trucks in my neck of the woods.
A lot of people on this forum are too young to remember the “Misery Index” during the Carter years.
I would like to know what that’s pegging at today. I think that’s a reason for the lack of celebration today. Ameicans don’t have a lot to celebrate after last week, Remember homosexuals only represent 2% of the population. There is a huge backlash building over this.
This is a perfect time for a Reagan-esque candidate. A guy like Ted Cruz could restore this country with a new pride and vigor.
If I lived on your street, you would not have seen Old Glory on my house for the past six July 4ths, or today.
You would have seen the Gadsden every day.
Old Glory awaits the day when she is no longer desecrated by being flown as our national flag.
Yup, it is why my flag is not flying today. Sorry, but I am not very proud of my country right now.
