Mackinac Island is one of my favorite vacation destinations. Charming, laid-back, and some of the most beautiful scenery around. The hubs and I try to get back every 2 to 3 years.

That’s one reason to avoid Michigan. Otherwise, those pictures make me want to see the state.

Do it in early as in 1-10th of October.

The Sugar Maple, beech, Red Oak Leaves light the State up.

Two very vivid memories I have, One I have a picture of were
back in the late 70s I had a trap line I ran. The day before a storm set in. Rain with temps dropping into the low 20s. I got up and went to the river early that following day, got into my Canoe and headed up river.

The rain had froze to everything. Trees, grass...as I went up river the sun was coming up. The Sun glittered on everything, the fog was lifting off the river bottom and the river surface was as smooth as glass.

The other was in the Early 80s I spent a lot of time in Northern Lower Michigan running Coon Dogs. One Night in Mid October it has rained all day. I loaded the hounds and headed north. When I got to the area I was going to hunt I hit the big timber and the two tracks to get me there. The rain had caused a lot of the leaves to fall. The two track was covered with a blanket of leaves along with all that were still on the trees it was a sight to remember. When I went to unload the dogs there was a herd of Elk in the Area and the Bulls were bugling. I just sat there for a while and took it all in.

beautiful backyard view, CC...looks like the bass are hitting...

Growing up in Holland, we were spoiled every evening with some of the most incredible sunsets on Earth.

Michigan sports some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth, no doubt about that.

I spent many a summer vacation in my youth in the NE part of the lower.....Au Sable river, rifle river, etc. canoeing, walleye and smallmouth on the rivers..and chasing whitetails in your neck of the woods... :)

Thanks for posting

We are a couple of miles east of Lowell on 11 acres of very old hardwoods with a creek that cuts the property in half. We get across with an atv, except when the creek is really high. We love it here, although as we age the winters are getting tougher. I can’t see us moving any time soon. We see lots of deer, turkey, mink down by the creek, coyote, fox and the way the bears keep coming south we have the ideal habitat for a den. I won’t be surprised if one moves in someday. Favorite places up north are Northport,Glen Arbor and Leland.

Might be somewhat staged. Noticed the flag was up on the tip-up and nobody was moving. Still a great picture though.
