Vanity: looking for questions to ask a Christian.
7-11-15

Hey there. I'm helping a friend gather questions she wants to use in her Bible study this fall. She wants to help sharpen the skills of the people in her group in anwering questions asked by anybody, particulary unbelievers, but by anybody, really. There won't be answers forthcoming, just needing questions, and what better place to ask for questions than FreeRepublic?

Here's a good resource:

The Christian Research Institute:

I always liked CRI. I spoke with Dr Walter Martin several times, on the Bible Answer Man program, listening on KFIA, Sacramento.

One of the secrets is having questions and answers in plain English.

I’d use an Amplified Bible .. because it is worded in plain English .. and the wording is amplified to help the person understand the reality of Christ and GOD.

Only one question is unanswerable by all scientists.

If there was a big bang that started it all, where did the matter come from that caused it?

Expressed in mathematical terms, what is the connection between Matthew 26:28 and Acts 2:38?

In view of Acts 20:28, is the church important?

Whose church did Jesus promise to build? Matthew 16:16-18

What is the only name which promises eternal life? Acts 4:12

Can one’s name in the book of life be blotted out? Revelation 3:5

What did the Christians in Corinth do to obtain forgiveness of sin? I Corinthians 6:11; Acts 18:8

Look at khouse.org.

Tell her that the “Learn the Bible in 24 hours” DVD/MP3 app is the way to go.

FYI...it takes way more than 24 hours since you must stop about every 5 minutes to discuss what was presented.

One of the best ways is to find a person who knows something about the religious positions of others and role play.

I am __________ (Atheist, muslim, Animist), convert me.

Learning to answer without attacking the other person's belief while at the same time convincing them that their belief is wrong takes training.

I’m not a bad person.

Why would God send me to hell?

why was it necessary for Christ to be baptized?

Did Eve succumb to a wish to be like God when she partook of the tree of knowledge of good and evil?

why were baptisms for the dead performed as mentioned in Corinthians?

what purpose did the Tree of Life serve in the Garden of Eden if Adam and Eve were already immortal?

Was Christ’s raising Lazarus from the dead a resurrection?

Who was Christ talking to in the Garden of Gethsemane when he said in Luke: “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”

why was it necessary that Christ be crucified in order for mankind to be cleansed from all its sins? whose law did it satisfy?

"As a Christian, do you think it's better to do your own work, or to try to get others to do it for you?"

Sorry - my sense of humor must be let out of its cage once in a while - no insult intended. Hope you are able to use inputs to get Christians to think and non-believers to feel the touch of the Holy Spirit and maybe become believers.

How abut, "If Jesus will come back to a world that has degenerated into a cesspool, as already foretold and as part of God's plan for us, what is your main job until then? Does it entail trying to stop the inevitable advance of Evil or is it to tend to your and your family's souls and carry the Word? Why? How does your answer line up with New Covenant Scripture?"

Was Jesus Christ God?

Is it historically verifiable that Jesus claimed to be God?

Why was Jesus killed?

Do the enemies of Christ acknowledge that Jesus was a blasphemer?

(The last 3 questions are simply a matter of history, not religion, BTW)

Priest: What do you know about life after death?

Johnny the shoeshine guy: (stone-faced) I wouldn't know anything about it.

(Priest hands over $)

Johnny the shoeshine guy: You talking existential being or anthropomorphic Deity?
