Trump and Ted Cruz have brought new hope that someone cares. Even so, I have been disappointed before.

Don’t be surprised if there is a Trump/Cruz Ticket or a Cruz/Trump Ticket in 2016. They like each other.

Just watched entire speech.....I definitely agree that I would much rather have Trump negotiating deals on our countries behalf than Hillary or Jeb. Negotiating is in his DNA.....there is no question about it.

Yes, both Cruz and Trump are strong leaders, each in their own way. United, they are the liberals worst nightmare. If liberals felt threatened by Sarah Palin, just wait until Cruz and Trump get through draining the swamp. It’s going to take some strong leadership to bring this nation together again and they are proving they have it. The least we can do is support them as they try to restore greatness to America.

It is coming to a point where liberals can no longer stand on hate, racism, and social injustice as reasons to change America into a perfect socialist utopia. National security, debt, unemployment, and Constitutional law are becoming the mainstream issues which affect the majority as well as the minorities. The failed liberal socialist policies and failed leadership of our current administration can not be ignored much longer.

Liberals know they will be confronted by Cruz and Trump, not by Jeb Bush or Hillary Clinton or the others who make excuses for and underestimate the mess America is in. Yes, it’s time for them to step aside and watch as we elect some new leadership for America in 2016.

“The man is a lifelong liberal”.

Perhaps, but he is doing the nation a great service by attacking both political parties and actually putting subjects on the table (trade, immigration, and foreign policy) that neither party wants the public focusing on.

The Bush family claims to be conservative (remember compassionate conservatism) but the effect of both father and son Bush administrations was to advance the progressive agenda. As I recall many said McCain and Romney are conservative. How about Colin Powell?

It is early in the campaign season and I won’t make a decision for months. Trump may be a liberal in his heart but at this point in the campaign he has done more to advance conservative positions on the most critical issues facing the country than all of the other candidates combined.

Oh I agree. Believe me, given what I do for a living and my close proximity to the US/Mexican border, I have probably been more adversely affected by ILLEGAL immigration than most. So I am very happy to see the issue of ILLEGAL immigration come to the fore. But what I don't agree with are the MANY who have concluded this lifelong liberal should be the Republican nominee simply because he is putting subjects on the table that neither party wants the public focusing on. He is still, after all, a candidate saying what people want to hear during an election cycle. That's right down there with used car salesman when it comes to credibility (no offense to used car salesmen).

I thought his speech was somewhat rambling. A little too much shooting from the hip.

So, is it more important to grade on style vs. content, or is it OK to hear and understand the import of the content despite the style. There's so many rules to make it easier to trash someone, and ignore messages, these days that I keep getting confused on where I should concentrate.

I've read several of his books. They're well-done, well-edited, and professional as you would expect.

They are part business self-help, part common sense, and part Donald's philosophy.

BTW his philosophy is "hard work, deliver what you promise, be tough, don't drink or do drugs (he doesn't), have a plan and stick with it, think big, fight for what you want."

His message, as it were, would have more impact if it didn’t come across as randomly firing synapses.

I am unsure of his complete positions on things today - a previous post referenced his earlier positions when he was a Reform Party candidate - I want to see if they have changed.

As of now I won’t vote for him, but he has the potential to make me a believer.

I ordered his book last night. I’m looking forward to reading it.

From what you’ve shared, he seems a well grounded individual.

For someone who is very wealthy, I would say he is quite grounded. It’s difficult to be rich and be grounded.

Overlook South40. He is in the 1% of FReepers who loathe Trump. I think he gets on FR when he’s drinking.

So we should only accept 100% agreement on FR and disparage anyone who disagrees with us? That's the kind of site you want?

This is shocking - GOP should have been speaking out against sanctuary cities long ago. Jeanine Pirro had great comments about sanctuary cities yesterday.

I was unable to hear Trump's speech. From what I read, I am most impressed that somebody is fighting the out-of-control PC and doing it with a passion.

- The fact that he just *talked* to people... one American to another.
- “The American Dream is NOT dead.”
- The time he spent talking about trade deals. He’s dead on about our disadvantage with the world economy in that regard and I also liked how he brought up his own experience - and success - in that area.
- The humor. I laughed out loud when he talked about making money every time someone ‘dropped’ him... “So I kept their deposit...”

I liked the fact that he stayed so focused on the economy.

New leadership sounds nice, but then I start thinking about the Republican primary voters and loose all hope.

Apparently, yes.

99% in full agreement isn't good enough. Some posters are looking for a full 100%.
