There are plenty of options all over the globe that go beyond the traditional spots in Europe. Its not hard to feel right at home in Thailand. From its beautiful, tropical weather; low cost of living (in Chiang Mai, a rented two-bedroom home goes for about $500 a month); and access to high-quality medical care (in Ko Samui, its just $20 for a basic doctors visit), its altogether possible for the investment-minded among us to maintain residences in the heart of Southeast Asia as well as back at home.
Plus, the Thai come by their reputation for being among the worlds kindest people honestly; as a majority-Buddhist country, their literal attitude is to be kind always. This means that outside of the occasional, innocent staring (depending on how far beyond touristy areas like Bangkok or Phuket you travel), African Americans generally report receiving the red-carpet treatment (although plenty of African immigrants, who tend to work in large numbers there, report otherwise).
2. Costa Rica
Your stateside relatives can visit often (which may or may not be a good thing) if you adopt this Central American nationjust a three-hour plane ride from Floridaas your new home. With its perfect tropical weather, universal health care and consistently high marks among Latin American countries on the Human Development Index (pdf), Costa Rica has jumped in popularity for American expats overall within the past 10 years. Thailand for the people, price and food. Two thumbs up.
If hot and humid are not your thing, consider elsewhere.
How’s our right to keep and bear arms in any of those other countries?
Paris had been the traditional magnet for Blacks, at least in the 20s to the 50s. Jazz guys, writers.
Dubai? HA HA HA HA HA AAAAAAA
The Philippines are cheaper overall and most people speak English, unlike Thailand.

That will work for the first few blacks who move there, but these places have low crime rates and are nice to live in because there aren’t many black people there. As that changes, so too shall change the living conditions and attitudes of the native populations. You can’t run from a problem if you are the problem.
We’ve lived in Chiang Mai and it’s a great town. However, it’s not America and takes a bit of adjustment. Knowledge of the language and culture is necessary. There are quite a few Christians living there. Buddhism isn’t difficult to accommodate your beliefs and doesn’t attack Christianity. A Christian University, Payap, has a lot to offer. Medical care is excellent.
Read the whole article - it’s not what you think it’s about...
Here’s a sample...
“Chris Rock summed up the black experience in the United States kind of perfectly during his HBO special Never Scared more than a decade ago: If youre black, you got to look at America a little bit different, he joked, stone-faced. You got to look at America like the uncle who paid for you to go to college but who molested you.
Since then, that generous uncle has moved from molesting to killing, with the list of victims growing by the day: the Charleston 9. Freddie Gray. Michael Brown. Rekia Boyd. Eric Garner. Tamir Rice. John Crawford III. Yuvette Henderson. Trayvon Martin.
Now, with only seconds left on the clock for that one person inside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. to consistently fight for some critical black issuesfrom universal health care and clemency for nonviolent drug offenders to the overall improvement of black male livespre-election jitters might be setting in, and some African Americans may want out.”
Some of the comments are quite good, though.
I’m looking at Southern Poland. It’s a tough language to learn though.
Only if they're so stupid that they actually don't remember how much better life was here before Brokeback Obunghole took office. And if they are that stupid, then please, GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE.
I'm sure we could crowd-source the funding to send every last "Whey be iz ma handout?!" sivelling ingrate right back to Africa.
How come Liberia and Sierra Leone didn’t make the list?
Don’t know about the others, but here’s a little about Thai law: http://www.thailawforum.com/database1/thailand-gun-law.html .
My brother moved over there when he retired. I read a few articles like the one above and I’m staying put!
Yep, there are many places in the world, especially in Asia, where the dollar goes quite a lot further. Thailand is one of them, so is Malaysia. The Philippines is also a very beautiful place to go. The only problem is that if and when a WAR comes, you, as an American will be the enemy. Went through that during WW2. I was born in the Philippines, American parents, Enjoyed life better than any one can imagine. Then the Japs came. Until liberation in 1945, I was just a piece of meat, that the Japs could do whatever they wanted to do. My advice to any one that wish to live in those countries. Have an escape plan if and when the “SHIT HITS THE FAN”.
The word "right" lives only in America.
What happens when something goes wrong over there and they find out their new friends don’t really care how we do it in the States?
What an offensive article. The US is abusing and killing blacks because they are black? What kind of talk is that? That is hardly a widespread phenomenon, and all the recent incidents had more to do with routine law enforcement than race. If one doesn’t love one’s country, then one should leave it.
I think most Americans would contribute to a fund for the deportation of blacks to any African country of their choice on the provision they surrender their passport and citizenship. Their severance pay: a first class one way ticket by air and $10,000 buyout. They can never come back to the United States if they take the ticket and money.
