My Wife and I will be Traveling via RV to Montreal and Quebec for about 3 weeks. We both have Medicare/Gap coverage in the USA and live in Indiana.

We are looking for recommendations for short term medical coverage. We have looked at SafeVisit for Canadian Visitor Insurance at a cost of $250.to cover both of us for $10000. (each) for 23 days.

Comments and recommendations are welcome.

Ask your HMO as they may have a reciprocal agreement with Canada. When I was in Victoria a few years ago my Kaiser coverage worked there.

Don't give a shit

Really

Ever see a drunk get thrown around in a brawl and get up and walk away barely scraped ?

He had no idea WHAT was going on and didn't give a shit even if you told him

Just ensure you don't need a prescription, eye glasses or dental work. None of that is covered.

Canadian single-payer will treat anyone who shows up in their emergency rooms. Will they charge you? who cares?! Its socialism!

If you want to see a specialist, or have chronic problems, you will wait 6-12 months to see someone, but that doesn’t sound like an issue for a short-term traveller. If you break your arm, you can get treated quickly.

We went to Europe and we used Tin Leg, which covers medical and any other Travel costs, if you should have to cancel the trip.

Not true. At one time they just treated Americans at no charge. And then Canadians who got sick in the U.S. started receiving ginormous bills from American hospitals. They now practice reciprocity. So buy insurance.

Do you have to first pay and then request reimbursement?
