Donald Trump and Sarah Palin could be star-studded bedfellows for the GOP after expressing their mutual admiration in recent weeks.
Palin was first out of the gate earlier this month when she jumped to the defense of Trump in the aftermath of the flap that saw him question her former running mate, Arizona Sen. John McCain, and his status as a war hero.
"Both men have more in common than today's media hype would have you believe. Both blazed trails in their careers and love our great nation," Palin said. "Trump is a hero in another arena."
She added, "Trump is the candidate giving voice to untold millions of fed-up Americans witnessing a purposeful destruction of our economy and the equal opportunity for success that made American exceptional."
On Tuesday, Trump said he could see himself offering Palin a position in his administration.
"I'd love that," he told a radio show. "Because she really is somebody who knows what's happening and she's a special person. She's really a special person and I think people know that."
The comments appear to have struck a chord. A blog in the Raw Story outlined nine reasons why Trump should choose Palin as his running mate. Top of the list was their "candid" and "bombastic" styles, the obsession of the media, and the enthusiasm they generate on social media.
After Trump's recent comments, Twitter is alight with commentary. While much of it is mocking, some on social media say they are holding out for a Trump/Palin ticket.
Back in February, Palin joked on "Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Show" about a potential bid for the White House with Donald Trump as her running mate.
"Sarah, you're teasing us. That's not nice," Jerry Seinfeld responded.

You are hopeless...
Trump isn’t my choice, either. I’d like to see Sarah Palin or some other good conservative in the second spot. I like Louie Gohmert from Texas, too—but I doubt we will be lucky enough to have 2 Texans on the ticket—LOL!
Yes—I’m a Texan—born and bred.
No one runs twice for vice president, because HISTORICALLY, it has been a losing proposition. It goes NOWHERE. If Sarah (or any other failed Vice Presidential candidate) ever runs again on a major ticket, in the next twenty five years, I will buy you a carton of steaks. Just PM me here. I am not trying to create enemies, but, in this day and age, it is political suicide. 2040. The clock is running.
The money he donated to Democrats and the Clinton Foundation is very impressive too, and his defense is he was getting favors for his crony businesses.
That’s supposed to be a plus?
Good info.
History is history. You showed it did happen.
Ignore squeaky wheels.
Oh dear God, you guys totally missed my point. Sure, Moses ONCE parted the Red Sea. Go there now and wait for that to happen again. Moron.
Your “point” was obvious and trivial.
You were wrong factually.
Walker/Cruz sounds about 700000 times better to me.
Palin is dead to me until she apologizes for that socialist piece of garbage she put in the AK Governorship last year.
Calm down.
The TITLE of the piece “Trump/Palin Ticket Could be a GOP Trailblazer” My comment is that NO ONE RUNS for VP twice. His stupid comment was that 1884 something or other happened. My comment is that THIS in NOT 1884. If he thinks Palin will be Trump’s running mate, because Elrod Hendricks did so in 1884, then he is an idiot. Nevertheless, I will, gleefully purchase a carton of grade A, all-American steaks for him if I am wrong. It isn’t going to happen. Not in modern American politics. But I should calm down...
