Donald Trump could take center stage at the first Republican presidential debate Thursday on Fox News if he maintains his lead in the polls.

Under debate rules, the candidate leading the latest poll — Trump, as of Friday — takes the stage’s middle podium, Bloomberg News reported.

Trump topped Thursday’s Quinnipiac poll with 20 percent of the Republican vote. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker was second at 13 percent and ex-Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was third at 10 percent.

That might chap Rupert's ass....

If he debates Bush and Rubio, from the "position of honor", it might be fun to watch....Will need a pizza because sometimes popcorn just ain't enough.

I just hope they aren’t all conspiring to take Trump down - it could backfire on them.

“started obsessing on Romney. And it was over”

EVery “Republican” seems to shoot themselves in the foot. Usually, when it appears they are gaining momentum?
At some point McCain, Newt, Romney seem to have it all about sewn up And then they crash and burn?

Do they or do they take the fall?

Remember when Obama’s 2012 victory was announced she danced across the stage.

While you and I butt heads on some issues, I agree 100% about Newt. It was his to lose, and he lost.

I was in that race every second...as senior consultant, spokesperson and copy writer for Newt's Super PAC. I followed it literally every hour. Newt was leading the polls, nationally and in Iowa only, by something like 13-14% after he started taking off in the debates. He had ZERO money to run ads, it was ALL debate driven. He lost Iowa because all 6 other candidates aimed their entire ad package at Newt, and he had some baggage. Newt responded poorly....

That's when he, and the DC idiots I had to work with on the PAC, had this bright idea to run to the LEFT of Mitt with that Bain Capital film. I was literally the only consultant on the PAC yelling NO NO NO.....we're gonna get killed by talk radio and the internet - and we'll DESERVE IT. We did, and we did.

Then along came SC, and the first debate, and Newt took apart a question about the "food stamp President" from Juan Williams, literally on Martin Luther King Day, and went on to have two great debates and crushed it in SC...winning by 14%. Maybe 13%. Something like that.

Then he went to Florida, and got obsessed with Mitt again, and forgot Obama, whoever the hell he is, and got crushed. I would love love love to see how history would have played out had Newt kept on his SC gameplan for the duration. He would have clearly won Florida....therefore the nom, and he would not have "shuffled his pencil" around in the debate with Obama. We'll never know....DAMNIT!!

wait a sec, here...

I thought all Trump supporters can’t WAIT for him to show his stuff at the debates?

Why, now, are you worried that he will get tripped up? Can he not handle the “gotcha” questions? I mean, this is Trump after all. right?

I was interested in Newt, and cheered him on when he was dissecting Obama and killing it. Then, the other Newt showed up, and it seems he listened to wrong advice. Too bad. He was a gifted debater.

PM me your address or email, and I'll get a book to you. The best section in the book IMO are the chapters on the Republican primary race 2011-12. I think you'll find it validating.

The difference between Trump and ALL others is that Trump doesn’t need to lie or put on an act to rise in his career or wealth as Trump has already reached the top of the world (10 billion dollars).

Most of the others lie and put on an act of being conservative to get the support and money of conservatives be it pundits or politicians. They know if they give conservatives what they want to hear then they’ll get viewers, donations , MONEY . so that’s why they put on an act of speaking for conservatives to make millions . but by being a conservative leader they are getting millions in donations or advertising dollars. so they are corrupt. Trump isn’t.

Trump doesn’t need to lie?

Do you not think Trump will benefit or has already benefited financially from this campaign?

Where does Trump stand on the issues..other than just platitudes? He is a man who likes power...the Presidency is power.

While yes, he is wealthy, don’t equate that to him being better than other politicians. That is simply bunk.

First of all, don’t assume I’m a Trump supporter. I’m still on the fence with him. But, I am enjoying the way he is ripping the MSM and RINOs. I don’t know how he will do in the debate, but, he is like the bride at a wedding - all eyes are going to be on him during this first debate. I can just hear the pundits after it’s over, dissecting and spewing their venom toward him. I want him to have as much a chance to win as any other candidate.

In short:

“conservative” Politicians, pundits ,radio hosts etc. all get lots of money for acting conservative, donations, advertising dollars , salaries etc.

but all of these are getting paid for acting conservative so we can't know if they are telling the truth .

Trump is the only one that isn't desperate for money.

I hate to break the news to you, but ALL politicians like POWER. Trump has power, he doesn’t need the presidency for that.

Trump doesn’t need money . He’s got 10 billion dollars

The other politicians are desperate for money , donations etc. And will they pander to their conservative niche to raise donations but telling what conservatives want to hear? yes.

Take as 3 examples here: I have studied Glen beck , Michael Savage and meghan Kelly. I know they are all 3 liberals, savage being a long time marxist. they put on an act to make millions per year, well Beck and Savage. Shakespeare said “All the world’s a stage and we are all just actors in it” . when have you put on an act or lied etc. ? It amazes me that people will just believe that somebody is a conservative just because they say they are.

Look you can’t really know what is deep in someone’s mind but the fact remains that money is more apt to corrupt others rather than Trump. so you have an added factor lots of MONEY that these fakers want and will get if they say the right things
