I take Gluscosamine and Chondroitin, 3 grams a day. I have been taking it for 16 years since I found I decided I had to do something about the joints. I had been riding the electric carts around the WalMart and walked with a cane. After I started the GC I walk 4 mph again and only have twinges when I miss my GC for a couple of days. Then a week or so later I start to feel it and double dose for a couple days. I am not keen to do the Medical stuff so I research alternatives. I also use a lot of Turmeric on my food and powdered ginger, both being antiinflamitory. Same for honey and cinnamon. Being on Medicare it probably costs me more than going to the doctor but I do a lot better than my acquaintances who rely on the Doctor for their Osteo remedies.

If you ask the doctor about this stuff he will likely tell you that "studies show" that it is all totally ineffective. My own experience and that of others whom I have turned on to the GC+ says those studies are BS.

I have osteoarthritis in my hands. It was obvious from looking at the swollen finger joints but xrays showed the extent of the damage. My MD also thought carpal tunnel syndrome was a possibility in my wrists so I was sent to a specialist for conductivity tests. Those tests came back normal. The test itself isn’t painful, it just feels like having a rubber band snapped against your skin. I’m only telling you about this in case your MD recommends it, so you won’t be overly concerned.

For the osteoarthritis in my hands I was prescribed Naprosyn, which is prescription strength Aleve. I don’t remember for how long I had to take it, maybe a month? Anyway that relieved the inflammation and stiffness quite a bit..my MD said it helps some people but not others..it did help me.
He is on the fence RE Glucosamine ..I don’t take it. Occasionally when the soreness/stiffness gets bad I’ll take some Naprosyn which helps.
Hope my missive helps you..hang in there let us know how it works out for you!

15 years ago I had to use a cane. Arthritic right knee. My Asian ladyfriend took my to an acupuncturist. Didn’t help, but the acupuncturist referred me to a Chinese Traditional herb doctor. He mixed me herbs to make tea for a week. First week, no difference. Gal made me go back. Doc said that at 6’3”, I was much bigger than his other patients, so he added some more herbs and made the batch stronger. After finishing that batch, I felt definite improvement, so I went back again. After that third batch, all pain was gone. It’s been 15 years, and I have no idea where my old cane is!
