The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Happy Sunday OTR fans and Trumpsters everywhere...people are starting to say “summer is almost over” and to that a say harrumph...long live summer...

We have an unusual and interesting lineup tonight of August shows and armed forces radio....after the core 3 shows we hit serious OTR programing with Suspense from ‘45 with the appropriate August Heat...then Norman Corwin Presents, which I’ve never heard of, but given that it’s 15 minutes long it may not be that complex...and then into 1hr and 45min of armed forces radio of VE or VJ Day...

How’s it going?...

Howdy, Houmatt! I’m not AWOL, just running a tad late with my post. Been doing housework all day today. It’s hot as heck here, too!

How you doin’?

Feeling weird. Bought some food to hopefully last me until Thursday's payday, got that second job starting Tuesday, three papers to write between now and the end of the month, and idiocy everywhere. Everywhere!

You need a car? Toyotas are usually good vehicles.

What are you doing with all the olive oil? How do you infuse it?

We’re fine, just hot. It’s crazy hot here—not 100 degrees, but the humidity, you know. Still getting ready to fire up the grill anyway. Pork tenderloin.

Don't need one but there may be a nice opportunity. I'd like something to carry the scooter around in and for dirty jobs/snow.

You get fresh herbs, cover them in oil and put the heat on low until there is a little simmer, then cool and strain. Love it with salt and bread; pasta, veggies.

Yea, I feel you. Surprisingly the humidity hasn't been too choking so far.

Cool. I liked my psych classes but there was this real liberal nut teacher who would rant about Reagan.

Ah! The oil sounds good and good for you. I like what they do at the Italian restaurants. Just take a shallow saucer and put some olive oil in and add a little balsamic vinegarto it, and then you can dip the French bread in. French bread at an Italian restaurant? I guess so. Mmmmmm!

I hope you do get the good deal for the car. Very cool!
