Mr. Max is apparently afraid of his own shadow and is unwilling to take risks. I played football in high school and got my bell rung several times..I wasn’t good enough to play football in college so I played rugby instead. I never had my bell rung playing rugby. I believe the difference is due to no helmets in rugby, or pads for that matter. If you want to eliminate or reduce concussions in football all that is needed to back off on the technology used in helmets. I am not saying to get rid of helmets, leather ones with some padding would be fine. It is something to go back to. As a conservative I am usually open to things that worked in the past. Now if they would just get rid of that dang forward pass rule!

I agree wholeheartedly. They made the helmet a weapon and are trying to rein it in with rules. That isn’t working. Time to make it not so convenient to lead with your head as a battering ram. Nerf helmets without facemasks might be in order
My daughter’s (then) boyfriend lost an appointment to West Point due to a concussion suffered wearing a leather helmet playing rugby.
