Some early adopters of a new Samsung phone have said the device's stylus suffers from a design flaw.
The S-Pen stylus for Galaxy Note 5 models can be stored within the body of the phone, but when inserted upside down it appears to snag on an internal mechanism.
Users have reported that when the stylus is then forcibly removed it can damage the S-Pen, the Note 5, or both.
Samsung said users should follow the instruction manual.
The stylus should be inserted by the pointed end first and is designed to fit snugly into the Note 5 handset via a spring-loaded mechanism.
However, it can also be inserted upside down but can jam when in this position.
Tech news website Android Police has reported that removal of the wrongly inserted stylus caused a detection feature for the S-Pen to stop working permanently.

You think that is a "spanking", Crazieman? You have the sense of humor of a Liberal. . . and you think you "spanked" me with that poorly formed response? Then you try to tell The Battman that you are not an Apple hater. . . but you are.
The evening advertising thread. Just curious, seriously, are you an apple social media employee?
Some apple I like, and some I don’t. But these propaganda threads are getting so tiresome. Apple isn’t universally good, and Samsung isn’t universally bad.
No, Crazieman. . . I recall the thread quite well. It is just that my interaction with you was so trivial and certainly not anything worth remembering. YOUR comment was no where nearly a "spanking" it was so non-memorable. Only in your crazed mind would you think it was something to remember. As I said, you are a legend in your own warped mind.
I have excellent recall. How do you think i have all the facts at my fingertips?
This has NOTHING to do with Apple. . . Why would you think an article from BBC NEWS is an advertising?
For the hundredth and Nth time on FR. . . ad nauseum. No, I am not an employee of Apple
Just bought a Note 4 at Costco for $99, and it included accessories. Love it.
Psst... he’s an employee of Apple.
LIAR!
Well gosh, I just cant think of why you seem like an Apple marketing employee. I was just curious. Switch to decaf
“Why would you think an article from BBC NEWS is an advertising?”
You know, I have heard rumors that giant corporations sometimes manipulate their image in the media. That they plant “stories” with journalists with agendas. That’s probably just a rumor. lol
“Psst... hes an employee of Apple.”
I’m following that beat you’re laying down.
Ten warning signs regarding people involved in/with a potentially unsafe group/cult leader.
Extreme obsessiveness regarding the group/leader resulting in the exclusion of almost every practical consideration.
Individual identity, the group, the leader and/or God as distinct and separate categories of existence become increasingly blurred. Instead, in the follower’s mind these identities become substantially and increasingly fused—as that person’s involvement with the group/leader continues and deepens.
Whenever the group/leader is criticized or questioned it is characterized as “persecution”.
Uncharacteristically stilted and seemingly programmed conversation and mannerisms, cloning of the group/leader in personal behavior.
Dependency upon the group/leader for problem solving, solutions, and definitions without meaningful reflective thought. A seeming inability to think independently or analyze situations without group/leader involvement.
Hyperactivity centered on the group/leader agenda, which seems to supercede any personal goals or individual interests.
A dramatic loss of spontaneity ****and sense of humor.*****
Increasing isolation from family and old friends unless they demonstrate an interest in the group/leader.
Anything the group/leader does can be justified no matter how harsh or harmful.
Former followers are at best-considered negative or worse evil and under bad influences. They can not be trusted and personal contact is avoided.
Before he accuses me of being a cult-like follower.
I have no special affinity for Samsung or Android. It fit me needs. For example, I love my Galaxy S5. But I hate the S6. Why? I can’t change the battery. Thats a huge negative for me.
If I were an Apple-bot, I would change my entire worldview and accept the new narrative, despite my personal misgivings.
*my* needs, damn autocorrect
Oooops.....design flaw. Every mechanical designer knows you have to ‘keyway’ things or users will ALWAYS put things together backwards
precisely
Oh just stop already
I never uttered asshat first!
Apple has no need to plant stories about Samsung's phones that are not selling anyway.
Samsung set to drop Galaxy S6 prices after poor salesPhone-maker adjusting price point after confirming slump in growth.
Samsung will cut the price of its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets, after confirming it misjudged demand for the latter handset.
Speaking with investors after it revealed a 38% yearonyear fall in earnings for its mobile division, Samsung said it would be adjusting the price of the two flagship phones, just four months after they went on sale.
The Korean giant revealed last week that it was expecting poor figures for the April to June quarter.
But the hefty profit slide in mobile, coupled with an overall drop of 4% across its entire electronics business, has shocked many seasoned tech-watchers.
Samsung had thought that the standard-screen Galaxy S6 would be the model that gave the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus a run for their money.
However, in fact it was the Galaxy S6 Edge variant that was more in-demand, leaving Samsung short of stock of the phone that punters really wanted.
Poor sales of S6 only proved that it cant beat Apple in brand loyalty among users and just ended up being one of the many Androids, analyst Yoo Eui Hyung told Bloomberg.
Samsung is expected to reveal two new handsets at a special event on August 13th. The muchtouted Galaxy S6 Edge+, with a larger curved screen, and the new Galaxy Note 5 are set to debut at the gathering in New York.
However, with Apple set to unveil new iPhones in September, it seems Samsung may have its work cut out convincing consumers to make the switch.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 was selling better than the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung phones have dropped to #4 position in China after being the #1 position for the last two years. Apple is in the #2 position after a cheaper version of smartphone made by Xiaomi (pronounced Show-me).
WOW! An entire reply totally non-applicable to the topic of the thread, attacking me. . . what triggered this? Amazing. You guys are way off the deep end and projecting like crazy.
What purpose have both of you had in hijacking this thread?
