Some idiot set up a behavior-reward situation with a cute bear. Decided to feed the cuddly animal. Other idiots think it wrong to reveal the bear’s unusual behavior. Small pets and children on the menu?

This is stalking behavior. Black bears will stalk a human to see if they are weak. And a black bear will attack and kill and eat another weak animal this includes humans.

The woman did not show weakness. That would be what I summarize. Skittishness in bears does not mean that they are timid. Just being cautious. Animals calculate risk, and apparently the woman did not show weakness or fear and so the bear will hesitate to attack.

I know one thing whenever I go into the mountains I ALWAYS pack heat. I would never have let that bear get that close.
