The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
Mine have done quite well.
Had never heard of the nano version.
Looks interesting.
My plants are #2 style of San Marzano. Look like a lumpy pear tomato with squarish sides.
Excellent flavor. Wife loves them fresh and in salsa. I have made up several batches of tomato sauce that I froze.
Sounds like a plan. My wife has one of those Ninja blenders and she mixes some of the most God Offal concoctions unimaginable!!!
I hadn't either, until I got some nano seed in a swap. Tatiana's database shows a number of different San Marzano variants out there...who knew?
Even with the blight, you are having a banner year compared to us. Thanks for the pics.
No, but I did purchase a packet of seeds, so I will be doing so. Hubby’s tomatoes in 5 gallon buckets last year had issues with blossom end rot.
I told him to try some Epsom salts and bone meal in the amounts listed on the package directions, and it worked.
The only lids I have ever used are Ball and Kerr. Never had any failures with them. They can not be reused. However, I bought a huge number of them at an end of the year sale, so I don’t have to worry for a long time about getting lids.
This new computer and printer are haunted. They do weird things and make strange noises. And no books or owners manuals came with them. It’s all on line, and half the time, I can’t even get the help features to work. ‘sigh’
We were spared the rain on Labor Day - it didn’t come till Tuesday. LOL
Hi greeneyes! We FINALLY got ours last night. I wish we’d get some more. lol We had reservations to go to the coast yesterday, but luckily, DH was able to change his vacay day to next Friday. If it rains again, we’re going anyway. (There’s still fish to be eaten & my most favorite nursery in the whole world is there, Turner’s) The skeeters are going to carry us off, but the beach ought to be like driving on a paved road.
Hope y’all - & everyone, have a good weekend!
God Bless
