Teens are increasingly turning to electronic cigarettes not to get their tobacco fix, but instead to inhale pot.
A new study published in the medical journal Pediatrics found that teens have devised ways to turn e-cigarettes into devices for hashish oil, marijuana, wax and other cannabis products. Researchers surveyed 3,847 Connecticut high school students about their drug and e-cigarette use and found that students using e-cigarettes to vaporize cannabis was 27 times higher than the adult rate.
According to the study, 5.5 percent of the students surveyed had used an e-cigarette to vaporize cannabis. In total, nearly 30 percent of students said they had tried marijuana or hashish in some form. Of those students who already smoked marijuana, 18 percent had used an e-cigarette to vape the drug. [ ]
While U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials said they will regulate electronic cigarettes, they have yet to come out with guidelines and regulations for the products.

OK—I’ll bite.
How does one use an e-cig to vaporize cannabis?
I don’t know, but I imagine there’s a YouTube video showing exactly how, like there is for about everything else.
So is this just another angle in the attack on e-cigs? The way I see it, is that the e-cig people are peeing in the Corn Flakes of three very powerful groups - Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, and Big Government. I expect many more attempts to regulate/hamstring them.
Full disclosure - I neither smoke cigarettes nor use e-cigs. I do see e-cigs as a much better alternative to cigarettes.
I’ve heard of folks using those cheap medical nebulizers to do something very similar.
People also vaporize vodka and breath it, near instant, and very short duration intoxication. It would be a lot like using ether I’d think... they are basically the same exact drug. [diethyl ether and ethyl alcohol]
During the period when ether was pretty much the only readily available anaesthetic agent drunkards were almost impossible to put out with ether since they had a high tolerance for the drug. They would often have to resort to the much more dangerous Chloroform...ick, chloroform is extremely toxic to the liver. But at least chloroform is not explosive like ether is...BOOM!
I think e-cigs are safer as well, my dearest and oldest childhood friend smokes a couple of packs a day... I tried to get him to switch to e-cigs but no dice :-/
They cook it down, like the stuff in gummy bears. I bet nobody saw this coming.
In related news, teens elsewhere are using empty soda cans with pinholes to smoke marijuana.

Ping!
What difference does it make, when you can buy a vaporizer designed to vaporize solids(i.e.,heat to a temperature below combustion to drive off the desired volatile ingredients) directly?
What I mean by that is that most e-cigs need a liquid containing the active ingredient to function. There are a host of vaporizers sold that will combust solid materials (use Google).
there are many vaporizers available specifically designed to accept raw cannibus. however, their appearance is different from ecigs so its obvious if used in a public place.
E-cigs have a reservoir that holds a liquid nicotine “juice” that’s heated and turned into a vapor which is inhaled. I guess they’re substituting a marijuana stew of some sort.
Has he tried them? It’s the only thing that’s worked for me.
I’ll be cigarette-free for one year in a few weeks. Next step is lowering the nicotine content in the juices I buy.
God bless you!
Stay away from those ciggs!
He has not tried them, can’t get him to...sigh
Does it seem like you breath easier, after a whole year?
Always learn something new here. Thanks.
E-cigs are just seocond generation vaporizers, descended directly from pot technology.
Nice. Well done.
I’m on my 6th year thanks to the ecig.
