My anectodote is true. Joey hisself was WAY into pop music. He freaking idolized Roni Spector of the Ronettes and all the great girl groups of the 1960’s, really. Of the original four, he was the most “poppy.” He loved all the pop groups back then, not just the Bay City Rollers but the Archies, too. Seriously.

There’s nothing wrong with one-hit wonders (or two-hit wonders).

I just back and enjoy the music if I like it, no need to be all judgmental about it.

I remember when they first hit the scene there was some article that claimed the BCRs were going to become bigger than The Beatles.

What a laugh that was then and now.

Actually now that I think about it, the beginning beat of Do You Remember Rock 'N' Roll Radio? nearly duplicates the S A T U R D A Y chant's cadence.

I grew up in Bay City Michigan.

I wasn’t old enough to drive so my friends older sister drove us to city hall in a huge station wagon to see these tards receive the key to the city.

We took off as soon as they went back in side. On our way back over vets bridge back to the west side we saw a limo just up ahead with a cop car ahead of it.

My friends sister pulled up next to the limo and the guys rolled the limo window down and waved. Their were no other cars around (3 lanes one way). Cop moved over and slowed in front of us forcing us back.

Great for her, but my friend as young as we were were already into Rush and Yes so it was like... whatever.

True story.

Compared to the absolute garbage they call 'music' today, they were pretty good. Compared to the other stuff from the time, not among the best, but not bad.

The Archies, like The 1910 Fruitgum Company, were ‘Bubblegum’.

Unbelievably, this look was considered fashionable back in the 1970s. As is the "leisure suit and platform shoes" pictured below, which resembles some of the ones I wore to high school dances and such during those times. Unfortunately, there are pictures and so to this day, I am exposed with regard to blackmail.
