Digital View From the Driver's Seat: The view behind the wheel of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car will have a new look in 2016 as a digital dashboard will be implemented full-time. The new technology will replace analog gauges and feature 16 preset screens which the teams have the opportunity to customize - displaying digital readouts of RPM, water temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, water pressure, fuel pressure and voltage (see an image of the dashboard and more info at Motor Racing Network)(12-18-2015)

Judy Allison, wife of Bobby, Passes After Complications from Surgery: The Allison Family is sad to announce the passing of Judy A. Allison, age 74, after complications from surgery earlier today at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC. Bobby Allison, NASCAR Hall of Famer driver, and Judy were married for 55 years. She was surrounded by her family, daughters Bonnie Farr and Carrie Hewitt, grandson Robbie Allison, brother-in-law Donnie Allison and his wife, Pat. At this time, funeral and memorial arrangements are pending and will be announced when finalized. The family members ask for privacy during this difficult and sad time (NASCAR)

Think I’ve been on FR twice since the Homestead race. The word here is snow. Lots and lots of snow. Bachelor has 17’ and another 1-3’ in the next 24 hours is forecast. It started snowing the week before Thanksgiving and it hasn’t stopped. 7-16’ forcast for Bend tonight.

All that to say Merry Christmas (Eve) to you and Mrs. Bender. BTW I’ll see you in June. Mrs. Happydog has reservations for the Sonoma race that she’ll find out about tomorrow night.

Matt Kenseth's spotter and family injured in auto wreck: Chris Osborne, the spotter for Matt Kenseth's #20 Joe Gibbs Racing team, was involved in a serious automobile accident last weekend. Osborne took to Twitter to express his thanks to all fans, friends and fellow NASCAR competitors who have wished him and his family well. Both Osborne and his wife suffered very serious injuries that will require lengthy recoveries. Osborne's son, Austin, also suffered injuries in the accident but was treated at a hospital and released. He posted a picture of the family car after the accident on Instagram, along with some details about it from his perspective. Including: "I was in the passenger seat and escaped with just a broken nose, missing tooth, a concussion, and some liver damage but I will be fine. Mom was in the backseat behind me. She broke the back of my seat and flew over me and ended up between the dash and windshield, suffering a broken pelvis on 2 places, destroyed her elbow, a broken hip, and a broken shoulder along with some other severe damages. She has been taken off her ventilator and was able to get out of ICU, so she is recovering."(FoxSports)(12-24-2015)

I hope one of those newer guys energizes the fans ‘cause w/Gordon gone and Stewart going and Dale Jr’s retirement around the corner it’ll get ugly pretty quick at the box office. I’m less excited about this season since I got bit by the NASCAR bug a few years back.
