Harvick and Johnson have not talked: #4-Kevin Harvick and #48-Jimmie Johnson have not talked since Harvick jabbed Johnson in the chest Sunday following the race at Chicagoland Speedway, and if Harvick has a message for Johnson, it could require another meeting between the two. Harvick, when asked Friday if Johnson had anything to worry about as far as retaliation, responded: "We're not going to use you guys [in the media] to make threats," Harvick said. "I can do that myself." Harvick and Johnson talked to reporters following Sprint Cup qualifying Friday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Harvick, who had declined to comment to reporters before practice Friday morning, was required to meet with the media for finishing second in qualifying for the Sylvania 300 on Sunday. Johnson qualified fifth. "I'm just here so I don't get fined," Harvick said in the media center as the first question was asked about the Johnson altercation. "I don't have a lot to say about any of it. I'm here to race and do what I need to do the next two weeks." Harvick, the defending Sprint Cup champion, was angry at Johnson for what he felt was an unnecessary door-slam as they battled for the lead on a restart about midway through the race at Chicagoland. Johnson, who had been tapped from behind by Joey Logano, went to the apron to not get into Harvick, but then used the momentum to get beside Harvick, washing up into him before they hit the corner. Johnson said afterward he had no choice because he needed to get off the apron and Harvick left him no room. Harvick crashed about three laps later with a flat tire, the result of a tire rub from the body damage. Harvick finished 42nd and is 15th in the Sprint Cup standings, 22 points behind 12th-place Jeff Gordon after the first of the three races that will determine which 12 drivers advance to the second round of the Chase. Whether Harvick retaliates against Johnson is one of the biggest storylines heading into the race Sunday, especially if Harvick fails to advance out of the opening round. "I truthfully don't know what to expect," Johnson said. "I certainly know what I hope for. There is no telling what will end up taking place."(9-26-2015)

Starting Lineup

New Hampshire Motor Speedway

(NASCAR Statistics)

How are pit stall's chosen? by qualifying results, the 1st choose their stall and so on.
If a car/driver has to go to the rear of the field before the start of the race due to driver change, backup car,
engine/transmission change, etc they do NOT lose their pit stall selection

Good Morning, FRiends.

Race on this afternoon, 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

And today Jeff Gordon takes over the "Iron Man" leader for Nascar, having started over 789 consecutive races when he takes the green flag today. It will take six years for the next closest driver to surpass Gordon after he completes this season.

I think Jeff should race the first three races in 2016 so he will end at 800 consecutive races!

Stewart to retire after 2016 season

UPDATE: Tony Stewart, a three-time Sprint Cup Series champion, plans to retire after the 2016 season, team and industry sources told ESPN's Marty Smith. Mired in one of the worst seasons of his career at 25th in the standings, Stewart will run one final season before handing over the driving duties of the Stewart-Haas Racing #14 Chevy to Clint Bowyer, sources said. #15-Bowyer is driving for Michael Waltrip Racing in 2015, but that team is closing operations after the season. He does not currently have a ride for 2016. Stewart won the Sprint Cup in 2002, 2005 and 2011. He missed out on the Chase for the Sprint Cup this year after posting zero wins and two top-10s leading up to the Chase. The 45-year-old Stewart is tied for 13th in career victories with 48. Stewart, who has 582 career Cup starts, missed the final 15 races of the 2013 season with a broken leg suffered in a sprint car accident. He missed three races last season after the sprint car he was racing struck and killed 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr., who had approached Stewart's car on foot at Canandaigua Motorsports Park.(9-27-2015)

UPDATE: Stewart-Haas Racing has scheduled a news conference for 1:00pm/et on Wednesday at the team's Kannapolis, N.C., headquarters, at which time driver and team co-owner Tony Stewart is expected to announce that 2016 will his last season behind the wheel. Gene Haas, Stewart's partner, will attend the news conference, the team confirmed.(FOXSports.com)(9-28-2015)

Yeah, same here. I would like to see Tony get the Cup in ‘16 with the new sponsor. That would give Him 4. The 3 He currently has are: Winston, Nextel and Sprint. Something 6whine can never do;)

A unique talent.
But watching the Xfinity from Kentucky on Sat (no Cup drivers due to the scheduling) there is plenty of new talent on the way up.

Good question.
He’s rumored to be doing a one year stint in the #51 car (Scott Motorsports) until the SHR slot opens up in 2017.

I think the emotional and psychological toll from the fatal accident play a significant part in how well he’s run this year and the decision to retire. I hope he changes his mind.

UPDATE3 - wanted Larson? Tony Stewart desperately wanted Kyle Larson for the job [the #14 ride]. Larson is available in 2017, but the particulars of his current contract didn't fall into place with the timetable Stewart needed to execute his plan. Then Clint Bowyer became available and Stewart had his man. Bowyer will spend 2016 making laps with another team as he waits for Stewart to complete his retirement tour.(9-29-2015)
