iOS9 has been met with a mixed reception from users

Apple users have taken to social media to show their fury at iOS9 software issues.

Many iPhone and iPad users have struggled to download the new operating system, which was released by Apple yesterday.

Users of older devices have struggled in particular to get the new software to work, but Apple has so far refused to comment on the problems.

Worked fine for my iPhone 5C and iPad 4, both older devices (as I said on the previous post).

I have 2 phones & an ipad. 1 phone & ipad updated with no problem but second phone froze up. The phones are the new 6’s, so that surprised me.

Update through iTunes and there is no issue. I’m amazed this wasn’t reported by Apple’s #1 FR advocate.

He did. There were a few articles posted about the iOS9 with some comments regarding the "issue". There was a high probability that the issue was stemming from large amounts of traffic. But as you said, updating through iTunes works without a hitch.

Zilch problems on our homefront. Downloaded much quicker than last year’s iOS8.

The smell of FUD is in the air.

No problem with my iPod Touch or my iPad Air 2.

The problem is probably related to the fact that there are millions of devices upgrading to ios9. If even 1 out of 1,000 has issues, you’re talking about thousands of unhappy users.

Well I guess then those Twitter people are liars and need to be shot? Jesus, you act like those damn things cannot possibly have this happen.

What part of it was a problem with TRAFFIC do you fail to comprehend, VanDeKoik? It happens EVERY SINGLE TIME Apple announces that iOS updates are available. People try to download when everyone else tries to download and the servers get overloaded. NOTHING crashes, VanDEKook.

The number of people who have had this happen is infinitesimal compared to those who upgrade with ZERO problems.

So far 17% of the users of iOS had upgraded to iOS 9 before Friday. That is over 120 million users so far who have upgraded without running into any of these normal piddly traffic issues, VanDeKoik.

Here's a quote from an earlier article on this, explaining what the complaints were all about:

ERROR MESSAGE . . .

One group of users reported that iOS 9 upgrade would fail after several minutes, requiring them to start the process over. Many posted screen shots of the error message they received: "Software Update Failed".

That problem was likely caused by servers that were overloaded when too many people tried to download the upgrade simultaneously, tech analysts said.

"It's like the Black Friday thing," said Bob O'Donnell of Technalysis Research, referring to the major U.S. shopping sale day after Thanksgiving. "Some websites get creamed on the traffic on Black Friday."

Other users, many of them with older devices, reported their devices seizing up on a "swipe to upgrade" page. The latest upgrade had been deemed by Apple as "friendly" to the older devices after the iOS 8 problems.

That last one is hilarious, because there IS no such "swipe to upgrade" page in iOS, and never has been. These are Bozos who are making claims, joined by others chiming in to say "me too" who simply do not own an iPhone or iPad.

Instead of trying to run cover for Apple for some goofy PR reason, it is perfectly ok for iOS users to know that this could happen and to be on the look out.

Some things are simply NOT a problem, except in the delusional world of the FUD spreaders who find something egregiously wrong in everything Apple does. . . like you. . . when there isn't.

You only get the error if you don’t have enough memory. Those with 16gb phones loaded with apps will have a problem.

It shouldn't happen even there. The download is only 1.6GB and iOS will now temporarily delete enough Apps to make room and then re-download them after the update is finished.

Brother, this happens every time a new iOS strata is reached. I’m already annoyed with the left-right switching of various app commands. I find the new open apps tiling weird. It’s a bit buggy (not anywhere near ios7-8).

But am I going anywhere? No. The iPad is just my cup of tea, warts and all. And apparently I’m the only one really enjoying Apple Music streaming. I can’t give the three month free trial away to any apple user I know!

NP. While I’m not a fan of the current Apple market (Loved the games for Apple II as a kid), the company I work for does (atleast for phones). So I didn’t have much of a choice when they switched all the work phones to iPhones. But the upgrade went smooth, so I can’t complain.

Plenty of liars here too so I guess it is not beyond the realm of possibility that there could be liars on twitter.
