If you are a Mac user that relies on Office 2016 apps to get your day-to-day work done then you might want to hold off on upgrading to OS X El Capitan. Microsoft Office 2016 is crashing in some applications on El Capitan. Why? Good Question, Microsoft has had months of both private and public beta testing to prepare for the release of OS X.11 El Capitan. PING!

Wow, glad I’m sticking with Office 2011 at least for awhile. I just upgraded to El Capitan yesterday and not having Excel would have been a showstopper. My big worries were Quicken 2007 and Filemaker 12 but everything seems to be nominal so far.

I have office for mac version 2011 and have no problems and I installed El Capitan the other day.
Maybe the new 2016 office versions are the only ones having the issue?

Spoke too soon. I think I have to re input the wireless code. Damn.

Office ‘07 works under XPP in a VirtualBox under Ubuntu. Once the XPP gets shut down, Ubuntu shuts down in 4 seconds.

I can’t print wirelessly now. Ticks me off. Last time I had a problem the printer asked for wireless code. This time it wants an access point which I do not have.
Lame.

Do you have even the slightest comprehension that this is a Microsoft problem? Just as other companies that want to use Apple products to run their app or software, Microsoft is given (WELL IN ADVANCE) developer copies of the upcoming Apple software and specs. This is to allow those companies’ developers to update THEIR applications so they are compliant and work correctly. To the extent that Microsoft neglected to correctly update Office 2016, it (Microsoft) is at fault.
But perhaps that doesn’t fit your desired narrative?

I have the 2011 version of the software also and have had zero problems with it under El Capitan. I should point out that I only use it for Excel (which I love and can’t bring myself to learn Apple numbers as well as I know Excel).
