iPhone 6s VS Nikon D750 In 4K Video Shootout (with video)

While our smartphones are great camera replacements as far as compact cameras are concerned, we’re not sure if they’re at that point where it could take on a DSLR, especially given how DSLRs have access to a wider range of lenses, different processors, and much bigger sensors.

However in a recent YouTube video posted by Lee Morris of Fstoppers, he has compared the new iPhone 6s to the Nikon D750 DSLR which was launched last year. Now in terms of photos we suppose you don’t need to test it to find out who won, however when it comes to 4K video recording, which device do you think handled it better?

If you thought that the win would go to the Nikon D750 by default, think again. According to Morris’ findings, it seems that the iPhone 6s has beaten the D750 in terms of 4K video recording. Given that Apple only featured 4K video recording in this year’s iPhone, we have to admit that we are surprised it held up pretty well against a professional camera.

However this isn’t to say that the iPhone 6s will beat out other more dedicated and higher-end equipment in the market, but budding videographers looking to start shooting high-quality video and think they need to invest in new and expensive equipment, you won’t have to look further than the iPhone 6s, at least as a start.

That being said, Morris does note that these are shot under ideal lighting conditions. This means that unless you’re going to be guaranteed that you will have ideal lighting throughout the shoot, the D750 will probably be better suited for the job.

Pikers. I prefer my 100+ megapixel capture system, with far superior lens sharpness, more color saturation and archival real raw imaging. Plus, it's cheaper. ;-)

My lumix does 4k and didn’t cost anywhere near what the Nikon does.

I might go IPhone since it offers 4K capability if Droid don’t when it’s time to get a new one.

Rather than newer and better equipment, people should start with learning to turn their phone sideways to shoot video in landscape mode. Shooting in portrait mode does not convey the full effect watching the latest YouTube beat down over mcnuggets or somebody’s epic skateboard fail.

I disagree. Is it cheaper at 1000 pictures, probably. Is it cheaper at 10,000 pictures, highly unlikely. Is it cheaper at 100,000 pictures, no way.

I’ve shot some time lapse with an iPhone 6 Plus (old one).

Once recording begins I have to touch in order to change aperture when lighting changes. Same for focus.

I used this cheap clip on lens which really is not bad when used with the case off, and on a tripod.

Cheaper in a relative way.
If you need video production where multiple takes and the ability to quickly review what was shot, video is cheaper.
Yours is hard to beat for image quality though. I’ll give you that.

It’s half a joke.

Of course virtually everyone should shoot digital.

I just like my antique way and its relative advantages.

Everyone needs a hobby.

M<Ore of the Apple BS propaganda. You honestly are stupid enough to think professional photographers need to ditch their Nikons for an Apple little tiny lens phone camera??

You obviously have no professional experience of any sort to claim such nonsense.

I think the iPhone had a feature to shoot landscape when in portrait mode. I don't have a phone anymore because I don't need one so maybe someone else can comment.

well to tell you the truth the iphone has only One Lens

the Nikon can use many different lenses for differetn uses

everything form extreme closeups to extreme telephoto.

I dont think the iphone shoots the RAW format which is the standard for professional photography. The raw format allows for the most leeway for processing images as the “camera” be it a phone or a DSLR discards a lot of image data when shooting using the popular jpeg format.

Tha being said I have seen some remarkably good photos shot with Ipones ,,,and IPADS.

You obviously have no professional experience of any sort to claim such nonsense.

So says Code Toad, anonymous nobody member of the Apple Hate Brigade, based on nothing but delusional bias.

"That being said, Morris does note that these are shot under ideal lighting conditions. This means that unless you’re going to be guaranteed that you will have ideal lighting throughout the shoot, the D750 will probably be better suited for the job."

So says Lee Morris, professional photographer and reviewer for fStoppers Magazine and Website after doing a comparison of results.

As though product advertisements like this one you posted are nothing but God’s honest truth! Gullible, just simply gullible.

You must make FR loads of money using it as a social media advertisement outlet for Apple. It is why I stopped donating. Jim should be making massive amounts of money for you to post the daily Apple adverts.

Unless you have done side-by-side comparison testing of the two products as this professional has, your post IS nothing but delusional bias. . . given your repeated posting history and repeated trolling of Apple threads and attacks on me.
