Samsung created a top secret 132-page document to show its engineers how to copy the iPhone pixel by pixel, and the company still never managed to pull off anything that was anywhere near as shameless as the iPhone ripoff HTC is about to unveil. Seriously… just look at this thing.
We’ve seen a number of leaked images of the upcoming HTC One A9 in the past, but the clearest pictures yet were just accidentally published by European wireless carrier Orange. HTC is already in deep trouble following its One M9 flop, but this phone may very well get the struggling smartphone maker sued into oblivion.
Look at it:
Here’s the back:
But wait, it gets better — look at the side view:
It even has the same slightly protruding camera lens surrounded by the same polished metal ring! Is this really happening?
Here’s the phone in white:
Some Android fans have argued that HTC made phones that included this basic design with plastic antenna lines before Apple. To them, we say this: stop being ridiculous. HTC’s aluminum One phones have had a unique design identity since the One M7. The shape was completely different, the design elements were completely different, and the back contoured to the hand.
This is an iPhone. Look at the shape of the handset. Look at the way the glass curves down on the front to meet the aluminum housing. And look at that housing! It’s shameless and shocking, but perhaps that’s exactly what HTC was going for.
HTC is a lost company right now. The One M9 is a great smartphone, but it was a horrible mistake on HTC’s part. To release a minor iterative update in the midst of a downward spiral was simply insane. HTC is up against giants that spend more on marketing in a year than it could afford in a decade. Minor updates with minimal visibility compared to rival phones do nothing to further this company’s cause.
At this point we’re not sure what might further HTC’s cause, but we would be very surprised if a mid-range iPhone 6 powered by Android turned out to be the answer.
It really is a shame because HTC is a terrific company with tons of talent and design chops that served it just fine without copying Apple. We sincerely hope HTC finds its way soon though, because the alternative would be a tremendous loss for the industry.
All except Blackberry.
Classic and passport are great.
More secure, awesome operating system.
Apple is so.... gay.
I added 16gig ram and it handles everything I throw at it. Even with the Intel video it still plays games like a champ.
Ya just need a sharp machete and a will to use it when ya find yourself in tall weeds . . .
Actually, not. The Hacker Team has tools for sale to get into all Blackberry and RIM phones. They don't for un-jailbroken iOS iPhones and iPads. They're now offering a $1 million bounty for a hack that can provide one. So far, no one has stepped forward to claim the prize.
I just find the whole apple system to be clumsy. I bought one for my kid. To me, is like a toy.
BB10 to me, it just makes sense.
The Iphone is like a toy that morphed into a phone, and it shows.
Agreed! Posting with a Passport. BlackBerry 10 phones are underrated and obscure yet are extremely well made and functional. BB10 OS is arguably one of the best, most efficient out there.
Korean American Judge, one Judge Lucy Koh is the exception that proves the rules. I suppose this judge is reviled within the “Apple community” and is accused of being bought off and threatened by Korean corporations.
Its easy for Apple or Samsung to deposit a few million dollars in a Korean bank for her. The IRS would never know about this bribe.
Anyway Apple would go belly up without Samsung made chips so they should stop screwing around with the Koreans or get their chip supply cut off.
What will happen is next year the Apple iphone 7x iterations will copy this HTC phone with all the improvements HTC made on the iFone.
So then Sword will have to engage in super FUD to explain this away. How Cook and Johnny Ives are ripping off Sammy and HTC
My thoughts ‘zackly.
LOL Church of Apple zealots make it too easy ;)
Super cool.
WOW! You just accused a sitting Federal Judge of accepting a bribe. YOU are delusional.
Anyway Apple would go belly up without Samsung made chips so they should stop screwing around with the Koreans or get their chip supply cut off.
More delusions from Baron Dennis Won Munchausen. Apple already gets many of its A9 processors, which it turns out are BETTER than the Samsung versions from another supplier, and is now in negotiation with Intel to have them make a SOC version with the A9 and Intel's modem on a single chip for the Apple iPhone 7 and future iPads. So much for your scenario. Right now, Samsung is far more dependent on income FROM Apple than Apple is dependent on Samsung.
Interesting. How do independent Geek benchmarks showing the iPhone being FASTER at almost everything than every other Android cellular phone, make it "too easy" and for what? Admitting the claim that Android phones are SLOWER? The only thing on those geek benchmarks that was FASTER was the new Microsoft laptop/tablet hybrid running on an Intel i5 processor, hardly a cellphone.
I don't think you even understood what you were looking at or how to read those charts. The iPhone 6S and iPads were faster than anything offered by Android. . . and have been for a couple of years. It is the Android processors that have been playing catch up and not getting close.
You are hallucinating if you think Federal judges are never successfully bribed. You really believe this??? lol
Successful as in; they were paid off for a favorable decision and were never caught.
That’s so ... original.
ApplePay, TouchID, much better camera, bigger and better (they aren't the same thing) screen, several times faster, 3D Touch ... man, you're a tough crowd.
The 6s is the fifth iPhone I've owned and the first I pre-ordered. Apple Pay was the biggest single reason, but the camera has surprised me with how much better it's gotten, especially in low light.
TouchID was a huge upgrade in the 5s, and it's faster on the 6s. It simply makes everything more secure. Several of the apps with the most sensitive info use it, and for the rest I have a password manager and can copy and paste. That means I can have unique, long, randomly-generated, impossible-to-memorize passwords for everything.
“To them, we say this: stop being ridiculous. “
THAT was the most logical argument I’ve ever heard! /sarcasm. Typical liberal “logic”.
Apple social media trolls get paid to claim Apple invented anything and everything and cures cancer.
Every year we hear about another hack into iphones.
It’s why Sony went to blackberry after they got hacked.
