I've got alot of garbled characters showing up like when you use “quotes”. Just started this morning.

Actually, I thought it was just bad HTML formatting on our parts. I guess I will need to review it further.

I am and someone else mentioned it. Search for a post about black diamonds.

Today is the first day I have seen this. Seems something is not interpreting certain characters properly but the characters show correctly when I visit the linked article so it seems confined to this site.
The diamond with a question mark is a replacement character for one not recognized in the character encoding.

My guess is that John R. is in the middle of doing something with the site’s HTML parsing and that it’s unrelated to the malware warnings.

Yes, I’ve seen it in my posts, and that of others.
Using Windows 7 and Android, both using Firefox browser.

Just to follow up, this now seems to have cleared up for me.
To: Gaffer
Seeing it as of yesterday.

It’s a character set issue. Cut and paste from an article and their character set being different from FR’s. I typed this directly, so let’s see if I get apostrophes or we see a+hat/euro sign/tm symbol.

I agree completely.
Last 24 hours or so.
To: Gaffer
I'm seeing it on Firefox, Opera and IE. Couldn't even post an article because of all the garbage characters.

It’s something internal to FR. Even when I type a quote directly into a post - no cutting and pasting from another site - the formatting is going kerploo-ey.
Sometimes anyway.

I have Windows 7, use Internet Explorer, have not had the malware warning at all and my posts are correct (in substance and individual letters :o). However, I see those odd characters in other people’s posts.
