Both men I knew bought big time into the whole foods thing. And it can’t hurt. It as much raw food as you can. Eat organic. Eat whole foods and is little processed food as possible. In fact remove it. Drink in moderation. Don’t smoke. Low sugar. Low salt. My wife has me on this very same agenda. I follow it. I feel better. The 2 dead friends I have were both doing the same. Living moderate lives. No drugs. No smoking. Eating whole foods and raw foods.

Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you. Sometimes People get sick, regardless of following healthy lifestyle suggestions.

Trust your doctor or don’t. I do and will continue to do so.

“most people want a pill”

I think that is true and I’m not a doctor nor do I play one on tv. I work with a couple of ladies that take cholesterol meds so they can “eat what they want”. I didn’t think that was the purpose of the medication...but what the heck do I know.

I was recently put on cholesterol meds and am working really hard (diet, exercise) to get off because...I read that they increase the risk of diabetes. It’s like a vicious circle.

I do eat some wheat breads, not the white stuff. I stopped drinking carbonated soft drinks, too.

"A tale of two friends who thought they were both being lied to about diabetes. Oh yeah. Not chronic and progressive."

You didn't say what they did instead, which is the key thing. Nobody is saying diabetes isn't real and should be ignored.

I don’t worry about you following doctors advise as your wife is taking care of you! What I have read from this thread doesn’t encourage anyone to not follow doctor orders, they encourage intelligent nutrition. Never heard anyone suggest people would live forever either.

I don't trust a lot of what I read on the internet. Anyone without going to school can put up anything they want to. Doesn't make it true. I've seen plenty of errors (including formulas) in stuff on the web.

In what manner do they cheat, and what incentive to cheat do they have? If you have seen lots of it, that should be easy.

I worked just for several years for a group of doctors who prescribed meds for diabetes and hypertension but never spent a moment on lifestyle changes that could be made. In fact when one obese, middle aged man broached weight loss the doc said “tape your mouth shut” and laughed. Kindly if you want a reply in the future be a bit less sarcastic sounding.

They both followed very healthy lifestyles, as outlined in my other post. They died anyway. Both had a family history of diabetes. Mark’s father died in the exact same manner, strokes, dialysis -— caused from mismanaging diabetes and not doing their glucose testing with the test strips. If they would have had their carb management under control and counting their carb calories well....of course that was key. and their doctors were telling them to do just that. and both these guys were pooh poohing advice from their docs.. they found a better way.

and that was my point... they found alternative cures like Juice Plus, chiropractic, a local swami, one of them even got into Scientology... every damn thing but what their doctor said to do...

and that was my only point. follow the advice of your doctor.. or follow the latest fad youtube video... your choice.. buyer beware.

Why bother with a real doctor if you are going to ignore what they tell you?

“A tale of two friends who thought they were both being lied to about diabetes. Oh yeah. Not chronic and progressive.”

Your comment completely misrepresents the statements made in the videos by your quoting their statement out of context. The videos DO NOT say Diabetes is chronic and progressive WITHOUT TREATMENT. The videos are saying the disease of Diabetes does not have to be inevitably chronic and progressive when appropriate nutrition or nutrition and medications are used to reverse the progression of Diabetes to restore normal levels of insulin and blood sugar. The videos are saying the key to reversing the progression of Diabetes is to stop increasing the insulin levels, lose the fat in the liver, lose the fat in the pancreas, which restores normal insulin leves and normal blood sugar levels.

But it sounds like their doctors were giving them good medical advice, so sure they should have followed it. The problem raised by this thread it that the standard medical advice for treating diabetes is NOT medically sound. It’s not just a matter of following your doctor’s advice or not, it’s about what your doctor is saying.

Raw food and organic food are popular fads, not scientifically healthy eating. Repeated studies have shown no benefits from organic food, and raw food isn’t always better. It depends on the food, but some food requires cooking to make the nutrients available.

FYI only:
I know this may be weird but #1, my husband has controlled T2.

#2v He was on Metformin for unrelated bowel discomfort. It didn’t help. Dr. put him on Metamucil. Dr. was surprised that it also helped his A1C as well as the discomfort.
