I’ve only had gout in my left thumb. It became really red & inflamed the first time, & since I didn’t know what was going on I went to the doctor. Advice: cool compresses. Must’ve been an Obamacare doctor. I backed off of Atkins, & since then (when I’m being good about dieting) I try a modified approach combining with an alkaline diet program. Lemon juice & a few other things, but trying to keep the carbs down. The other issue with Atkins is your body draws calcium to deal with acids in protein & that increases chances of osteoporosis. Another good reason for going with alkaline options.
