Not sure about the 40s and 50s but in the 60s WE called them neighbors -that is what is odd about California, they could be here 2 days or their family here for 200 years and they are lumped together.
They are not “undocumented immigrants”, they are ILLEGAL ALIENS. They are not here because of some clerical error. Calling them undocumented immigrants is like calling shoplifting an “undocumented purchase.”
THIS appears to be BS.
LEMME SEE 200 YEARS IS 2015- 200 = 1815- I KNEW for many years A direct DESCendant OF ONE Of THE ORIGINAL king of Spain land grants family in the Livermore Valley stretching from San Jose to Walnut Creek and he did not like WETBACKS. Cannot lump them all together coz 1815 is before California came into the Union. My wife, a LEGAL Resident Mexican, had a wetback move right next to us. Boy was she mad coz she had to report every year to the feds and this guy just came in with stolen SSN, DL etc. She was PO`d and SHE`s Mexican!! Cannot lump them all together- It`s a FALSE GENERALIZATION..> been there done that..ask my wife, PLEZS!!!
Let’s accommodate them. Don’t call them illegals. Call them wetbacks. Then everyone should be happy.
“Ich bin ein taco!”
So you think there were no people from Mexico in this area before 1815 LOL -
How about loving the American community?
of course oh the Spanish land grant was from 1769-1790?? California before Vallejo`s I believe
