“Living for the moment” has been pushed as part of the pop cultural revolution of the 1960s.

It has always been extremely destructive.

And if you can't be with the one you love honey, Love the one you're with --Stephen Stills. That about sums up this train of thought.

There's a point to living in the now. There is no anxiety for a future if you live NOW. I do this myself. My morality is Christian-based, and if I live morally, my NOW SELF feels better about myself.

I also have far less by way of fear by living in the now.

“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?” ~ Some, like, famous dude.

Agreed. It is “do what you feel right now” over “do what is right”.
So women leave marriages when they face trouble over working through troubles.
So students switch majors based on whims instead of deep thought and analysis as to which majors they can do well and earn a good living.
So liberals do what feels good now without any concern for the consequences later or analysis in the face of bad results of the last whim except jump to the next feel good solution.
