Hah. Most won’t admit to narcissism. But yes...Lord, help me be the person my dog thinks I am.

They can’t eat or drink either...

Methinks some people are way over emotionalizing a little duct tape. I don’t know the story behind what she did so I’m not commenting specifically on that, but I doubt you would have approved of my way of dealing with a horse who thinks he is in charge.....lol

I doubt the woman had any idea of the can of worm she opened...

And your statement in itself is judgemental.

There’s the rub. :-)

A dog “sweats” by panting. A dog can die if muzzled for a long period of time. So she is stoopid.

Two things: 1. A minute is not a long period of time. 2. Stupidity is willful ignorance. I venture to say that most dog owners don’t know about the need for panting. i.e. if her ignorance is her crime, most of the dog owning population is in the same boat as her. I say we torch ‘em all! :-D

Have and have had horses. Nothing you could say would surprise me.

Then she posts it on facebook. She is stoopid.

It’s not that she is stupid. Rather, it is that she is ignorant of just how many people in the general culture have a lot in common with the “Safe zone” kids at American universities demanding their deans resign for being so insensitive.

:-D

It’s happening even on freerepublic. Gawd we are so screwed.

Woke up this morning with two cats. One on my chest, the other near my legs and two dogs.

Bunch-a-babies...

I sometimes put a cucumber behind my cat while she’s eating, hilarious.

Just kidding, I don’t have a cat but I would if I did.

I went back and read the article. It says nothing that I could see about “one minute”. Maybe I missed it.

I guess we could discuss willful ignorance until the cows come home. It happens in all walks of life. Toward animals and humans. That doesn’t make it right or something to be ignored.

What’s interesting is that our hound was dropped off by someone near our home. It’s a puppy that looks to be about 3 months old. I almost hit it with my car at night on my way home from work. There was a burlap bag there. Looks like it got out. If I ever met the person face to face I would not feel any animosity toward him/her. I would tell them that they really should take the animal to animal control or something.

I understand that there are different people with different sensibilities. As a Christian, I’m concerned with bringing people to Christ. And the only two things in this life that matter are:

1. My relationship with my Creator.
2. My relationship with my fellow man.

The bible is silent regarding how Christians are to treat animals other than to take care of them as you would take care of your car today. I.e. it is a very low priority moral issue for me. I DO think it’s none of the government’s business other than regarding how a man treats another man’s animals (property).

That being said, how a man treats his animals is a reflection of his character. And regarding this woman, What she did was very minor. Heck, she may not have thought at the time how hard it would have been to take the tape off. And it may not have been that hard. I don’t know. I wasn’t there.

But what people seem to forget is that daily life is not a sitcom. People have bad days. People have mean days. Every spouse, no matter how “good” and in love they are with their spouse, has had to apologize for something. We ALL do “cruel” things to other people to one degree or another on a fairly regular basis. It is the young adults or those who have not matured with their years that judge people to such a high standard as many are judging this woman.

It’s why I cut them slack as I would the person that dropped off our hound. But I’ll call it what it is. And what it is is cruel judgmentalism. And we are admonished to judge not, lest we be judge. I’m not judging people, but I most definitely am judging actions.

I am really trying to see your correlation between “safe zones” and this story and I can’t get there.

Help me out.

Well, technically you are correct, but we cannot micromanage the lives of others because they violate our personal sensibilities. It used to be common to be disgusted with the acts of others, even in the way they disciplined their children or animals, but we understood that we are a free nation and people must be given a certain level of autonomy.

It is as though we want to scrutinize every aspect of every person’s life at all times. And if we do that, we are all doomed to a fate much worse than many have called upon this woman.

Come to think of it, without the blood of Jesus, we all ARE.

It’s been this way for some time now...

I try to stay off the threads, everything from animals to GMO foods,,,

Like a bunch of chickens running from one end of the coop to the other, only because some other chicken decided it was a good idea..

You'd love his home in Hartford; this time of year, every room is bursting with Victorian Christmas decorations; they are wonderfully done.

Not safe zones. Rather, the attitude of the students in those “safe zones”.

In the real world, their grievances are comical. It’s why everyone is making fun of them for being such whiners.

Same with those that are calling for this woman’s blood.

Heck, she may have had a couple of glasses of wine and her dog’s barking got to her and she just, out of frustration grabbed the duct tape and wound it around the dogs mouth and said, “there! Try to bark now!”

Having a camera in her phone, and the sensibility of “this is completely innocent. I’ll take it off after I take the picture.” She snaps the shot. Hits the share button, and then removes the tape and snaps another shot and shares.

She just had no idea how hypersensitive the world we live in has become. And that is how it is like those students in those hyper sensitive college campuses and their ludicrous “safe zones”. “Billy said something that makes me feel bad. Please string him up by his toe nails to teach him a lesson.”

We need to butt out of other people’s lives unless it REALLY warrants it. Too many are on a hair trigger. It will not end well.

All righty, Cuban Leaf, I don’t have any intention of arguing about this any further.

We won’t ever even meet in the middle.

And that’s o.k. Difference is what makes the world go round.

I have been there done that...

They cannot be objective regarding their own actions and comments.

IMO, this social media craze is going to contribute to a complete breakdown of society at some point.

For example: This dog picture has caused numerous calls to law enforcement and demands that they do any number of things to this woman in Daytona.

It’s as if this woman has no family and Daytona has no animal welfare enforcing ability so these people must involve themselves in this woman’s business to the point that her dog should be seized and she arrested or shot...and they are tying up the phone lines making complaint after complaint and not a one of them has ever been to Daytona.

This or something like it happens every week, and often results in the disruption of people lives, far beyond whatever intervention was needed or if it was needed at all.

These people don’t care about that, as long as they can be the ONE. The ONE that somehow makes the world a better place while at the same time that are destroying it by damaging the social compact. They don’t care about interjecting themselves in the lives of others, or the damages caused, as long as they can show everyone that they care. That they are the good people.

Keyboard warriors, Pajama Nazi’s, we once had all sort of names for them, but now it’s considered normal and people like you and I who question the purposes of this are the ones that are ignorant.
