This was taped September 29th. Don't judge too harshly, I was lucky to make it to the studio! After all these years of watching Jeopardy and yelling at the TV, "Who let THAT idiot on here!?" now it's my turn to have them yell it at me! :D

Yes, after the taping while we were talking, Alex said something to that effect. We all agreed.
George: What is Tungsten or Wolfram?
Alex Trebek: We were looking for ‘What is Tungsten, or Wolfram’.
Jerry: Is this a repeat?
George: No, no, no. Just lately, I’ve been thinking a lot clearer. Like this afternoon, (To television) what is chicken Kiev, (Back to Jerry) I really enjoyed watching a documentary with Louise.
It came on at 4:30 Central time here.
for some reason, the only one I remember is the Japanese looking girl and the only reason is that she looked very nervous.
I thought the final question was fairly difficult. I was pretty sure it was George Washington and the year 1789 stuck in my mind but I was so unsure that I might have said something else.

The final Jeopardy question was a tossup for me. I really was 50/50 on 1789 or 1841. So I went with what I thought would make me look less foolish. If I’d said 1789 and was wrong, people would really roll their eyes.

Way to go nonetheless. I tried to get on years ago, before online trials tests. Didn’t do well, didn’t get good categories for me. My wife thinks I should try again. I know I have a several categories I’m pretty good at, and a *lot* more I’m not.

Listen, if I can do it, anybody can! Plus, they called me 5 months after my eligibility had expired by their own rules. I’m with your wife on this one, you really should study up and go for it.
I just watched the show out here on the left coast.
When I was younger I think I could have done OK on it but in the last few years they have questions or answers in which I say to myself: “I have no idea what they are even talking about”.
Soonest I get it after this evening is tomorrow afternoon.

For what it’s worth, you came across as a very easy-going and pleasant person (no surprise for a FReeper!). I’m sorry it won’t be you we see returning tomorrow, but I’m so glad that I spotted this thread and got to watch the episode knowing the full scoop! I would have deleted it after viewing in a few days and been none the wiser. This was a great treat!

I remember. I live in Texas now, and one thing I don’t miss about Cali is the constant sirens wailing all night.
That’s really a nice compliment! I wasn’t nervous, I just wanted to make a good impression. Sure was worth the effort.
The whining sirens here in this neck of the woods.. arent a constant intrusion.. ...but the whining “progressives”... sure are.
