Rush predicted this years ago, in the Keep Our Own Kids Safe (KOOKS) safe soccer-concussion era.
just trying to make more boys into more wussies, just like in soccer where now they want kids under 10 to not head the ball and some are even calling for helmets.
Can’t have boys being boys and becoming real men can they.
Kinda like ESPN’s war on America, no doubt. What’s news from the fascinating world of soccer?
Just said the same.
Now laws state they cannot head the ball under 10, some want helmets for crying out loud. The game has been around for way over a hundred years and now they want it to make it more of a pansy game.
I guess they’d be doing this to boxing but there isn’t any money in boxing anymore. It’s better to go after Daddy BIG Bucks, the NFL. The ambulance chasers are already pimping their services to “former football players” on FNC.
Not so much a problem for kids, but at the college and NFL level, the players are vastly stronger, bigger and faster than 50 years ago.
The NFL has two choices: 1. directly confront this problem (I should get credit for not saying “head-on”), or 2. watch the pool of available players dry-up to the point where you will only have retards playing the game (albeit making piles of money).
Yep. Rush was right. Just another open door for the loiyahs and the continuation of the wussification of America.
My nephew, BTW, received 2 concussions playing lacross.
Think about it folks. What does football do? It brings together people of all different races, socio-economic backgrounds, and locations. It promotes the military and our veterans. Can’t have that per the Left, they function off of chaos and divisiveness, so that’s why they are attacking football.
It’s not just football. When I was growing up, batting helmets were just for Little League—major leaguers would never wear them. Hockey players—even goalies played the game with naked heads. Don’t know if it’s wimping out, but the idea has taken hold that suffering permanent injury while playing a game just sent worth it.
Just an idea, but if football were played with rugby equipment, would serious injuries go up or down?
I would argue that they would go down. The problem is people tackling with their helmets. You don’t see that in rugby.
Bring back leather helmets.
I think you nailed it.
However, the retail commercials make a FORTUNE and it's all about money.
Money trumps everything. Pun intended. ;o)
Despite efforts by both sides to make this a political or societal issue it is,in fact,a *medical* issue.Certain types of injuries that can be suffered in football, baseball, hockey, boxing (and others) either can,or cannot, result in serious, long term deficits later on.
Neurologists, neurosurgeons and neuropathologists...and *not* newspaper columnists or lawyers...should be the ones who determine the science involved.
I would bet they had concussions in High School and College before entering the NFL.
But the NFL has the deepest pockets so I expect the lawyers to put it all on the NFL. - Tom
That's not necessarily the case. There's no shortage of roofers in this country and they make *much* less money doing *much* more dangerous work.
I’ve never seen roofers banging their heads together. In any case, there are no pee-wee or junior roofer leagues in this country, that count on parents sending their kids to participate.
Yep, and I read recently many youth soccer leagues are banning heading.
