Groundbreaking lesbian Air Force officer killed in Afghanistan

A female officer in the Air Force who was one of the first openly gay service members to marry was identified on Tuesday as among the six U.S. troops killed by a suicide bomber near Bagram air base in Afghanistan.

Facebook postings on Tuesday by friends and family of Air Force Major Adrianna Vorderbruggen mourned her death on Monday and sent condolences to her wife Heather and son Jacob, who live near Washington, D.C.

"We do find comfort in knowing that Heather and Jacob are no longer in the shadows and will be extended the rights and protections due any American military family as they move through this incredibly difficult period in their lives," said the posting from Military Partners and Families Coalition.

Six American troops, including Vorderbruggen, were killed Monday when a suicide bomber on a motorbike struck their patrol in the deadliest attack on U.S. forces this year.

Bagram, around 40 km (25 miles) north of Kabul, is one of the main bases for the 9,800 U.S. troops left in Afghanistan after international troops ended combat operations last year.

The victims included New York City Detective Joseph Lemm, a 15-year veteran of the NYPD who also volunteered in the U.S. Air National Guard and was on his third deployment to war zones.

"Detective Joseph Lemm epitomized the selflessness we can only strive for: putting his country and city first," New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said in a statement.

Mayor Bill de Blasio sent his condolences to Lemm's wife and two children, saying in a statement they were among so many American families this holiday season "who have an empty chair at the dinner table because one of their loved ones went off to defend our country and never came back."

“Lesbian Air Force Officer” ought to insult females on the same level as “woman doctor” or “woman engineer”.

If a job doesn’t technically require a penis, then how is it relevant?

Same for the lingually inclined folks.

She was probably the target and got herself and five others killed pushing PC. We’re supposed to be sensitive to Muslim values and not drink, disparage Islam or play music around them while in country. Yet we’ll put an armed woman over them to patrol amongst then feign surprise when she’s VBIED’d. Fools, evil fools.

Homosexuals define themselves by the type of sex they prefer.

But she was not in a combat role, I suppose.

This will get Obama’s attention. Air Force bases to be renamed in her honor to follow.

With such a high profile, what are the odds that she was the target?

I don’t give a dam if she went with men or women or was black, white, highyeller, or green. If she fought and died for my freedom...

I hope you eventually come to realize that the homosexual agenda, which this dyke pushed, is decidedly ANTI-freedom, for everyone who does not grovel at its feet.

She can burn in hell, which is her lot.

Obama has served as president for nearly two terms.

Do you show him “exactly the same respect” you do for every other president?

No? Why not?

“What was a USAF major doing on a ground patrol?”

I would guess that they were bored on base, and went into town, shopping for souvenirs and something different to eat.

I’m sure that they have a bazaar area that caters to the rich foreigners on Bagram, like Chicken Street in Kabul.

Terrorists could always go there to find some foreigners (like putting out a deer feeder), and they could just wait until they saw a target that they liked - e.g., Soft looking/not alert, some high rank displayed on a uniform, or a group bunched up together.

This is just speculation on my part, there might have been some meeting with Afghans or something official that brought them out. If there was though, I would expect that would have been mentioned.

The rank of President; yes.
The man as president; no.

Did this gay female go into our AirForce with the intent on disrupting our effort? no.
If she had done like Obama, and purposely tried to disrupt our fight, then I would compare her to Obama.
For all I know she fought with the same honor and bravery as every other soldier.

If one’s sexual proclivities are unimportant in life, why are they now so important in death?

It’s called leadership. I went on several patrols outside Kandahar Airfield when I was Deputy Commander.

"If she fought and died for my freedom I have exactly the same respect for her I show every other vet."

It's pretty sad that so many around here don't agree with that.

The occupation of Afghanistan is a huge waste of money and American lives. It did not defend the lives of Americans killed here. The mission should have been to go in and kill as many Taliban and Al-Qaeda operatives to deliver the message attacking America is a bad idea. Lay waste to the land so others (so call innocent) are pisses and take out their vengeance on their rulers.

Screw rebuilding. It doesn't work with Muslims. We should have left after a year. The "New World Order" elite have helped themselves to a lot of tax money they don't deserve. It's getting tiring to keep hearing how these occupations are defending out freedom when they are shoving the Islamofascists down out throats hear at home.
