“Puritans didn’t use wedding rings. “Popish.””

Excellent, because that not only proves they were stupid bigots but it also proves they could have changed the names of days and months if they wished. After all wedding rings were an ancient Christian practice long before the Puritans showed up.

Thanks for proving my point.

The Puritans regarded a wedding as primarily a civic ceremony; it was not a sacrament in their system. They viewed the wedding ring as a Roman Catholic adoption of a pagan custom. On top of that, they didn't wear jewelry anyway, which they regarded as worldly and ostentatious.

Some Puritans are on record as having pointed out the pagan origin of the names of days of the week, and at least one unsuccessful proposal was made to change them.

I won't debate the "stupid bigots" part of your post, except to say that there was (and still is) plenty of bigotry to go around.
