Apu answers something like, “While it is most commonly thought that it was fought over slavery, there were many factors. The north was placing economic pressure on southern industries, and many in the south thought the federal government was overreaching and taking power away from the states.”
This is a perfect example of post-War Soutron revisionism and how it infiltrated in to the left.
Here we have the leftist writers disseminating the Lost Cause Southron argument which was taken up by the Marxists - it was all the fault of the evil capitalist industrialists who were trying to oppress and exploit the South.
That evil capitalism (Homer shakes his fist).
The only things factual about history are dates, times, and in some cases, the places. What happened on those dates and times, and in those places, is subject to manipulation, corruption, and omission by journalists, politicians, lawyers, and other scoundrels.
From my own experience, Southern Americans, by and large, were and are humble, respectful, Godly, and industrious....NOT the villainous protagonists of popular American history, which is the true ârevisionistâ version.
