I was talking to my Grandmother, Mothers side, one time on how my Grandfather didn’t look Irish, more like a Scot.
She said don’t tell anyone his family converted.
So years later I saw one of his family name shaking in his boots about a Protestant Minister of his family name preaching in Belfast, we are all going to die.
No way, no how am I sending in my DNA to Big Brother.
I did our genealogy many years ago. Went to the actual places they lived and looked at the original documents. I don’t trust others’ research. Today, if you’re stumped, those online sites on only good for a hint on maybe getting unstumped but take what they say with a boatload of salt.

Your John Osgood, was son of Hooker Osgood, who was son of Hooker Osgood who was son Stephen Osgood, who was son of John Osgood....our common ancestor.
What does something like that cost and where do I get one?
That is the only way to do it in reality but at my age....
I used FTDNA go to their site for the price.
Do you have curious attraction to barnyard animals, particularity horses?
Mine came back with on word on it: “Mutt”
(1) FTDNA were pioneers, and IMO a little more technically astute than Ancestry
(2) Ancestry has better tools to work with searches and matches.
(3) Trust factor is less with Ancestry. Right now there is uproar in the genealogical community about their decision to discontinue support for the Family Tree Maker Software. Even with the pitchfork anger, Ancestry is ignoring us.
I had the Osgood book from the LOC and somewhere have copies of the relevant pages. All I have linking Sarah to John is from that book you have.
Here's the problem I ran into with Sarah whose mother or grandmother was a Farwell. She was orphaned and lived in Worcester, MA under a guardianship. Could never find a record of John Osgood and Sarah Sullendine marriage.
Also I copied out and donated from the NEHGS Solendine genealogy. It's on the web somewhere. That Solendine line seems to have died out (my line and possibly yours). Many died from TB. Others in that line lived and farmed in Shirley, MA. No known gravestone remains except one for Deborah who married a Solendine (I think). There is another Solendine line that got into Michigan, but if we're related, I don't know about them.
The problem is I found the births and baptisms in Lancaster records online for John and Sarah's first several children. There is a record saying she died in Lancaster, but there is a note saying she was still alive in 17xx because she was named in a will. I think it could have been her Aunt Sarah's death from one generation previous, but no proof.
They had moved to Alstead?, NH and finally to up north, Hanover County, could find the name of the supposed town. Can't find a death record for either of them.
The problem I talked around is (without dragging out my records), Sarah and John's next-to-last child, Levi Osgood was my great great grandfather and is buried in West Truro Cemetery in Knox County, IL. So one source says she had died before my Levi was born, and she would have been in her mid or late 40's when she had him (Levi) and also a brother Manassah.
My point is Sarah could have died notwithstanding that Lancaster death record and John remarried for the last few children including my gr gr grandfather Levi. I don't know if the Osgood genealogy is sufficient proof of John and Sarah and son, Levi. I wanted another solid source and am unable to find any.
Manassah was a good clue because there was a Manassah/eh Solendine. But there is no proof other than the Osgood genealogy that John and Sarah's son is my Levi Osgood. Some sources on the web may say something, but they are all sourced back to the Osgood genealogy.
We had an extensive family history on my patrilineal line, but all I have on Levi Osgood is what I said. I did get his billfold in family things, but one of my kids must have taken it; it's gone, old but brand new, could have been one other Levi Osgood, closely related He married a Susannah Glidden in Charlestown, NH, went north to Coos County, NH, then came to IL in about 1849.

My Great Great Grandfather was a criminal and his nickname was Mad Dog.My great cousin is up for Sainthood.I claimed him :)
That is almost as bad as the family secret about my grandfather from County Cork having had IRA ties. My Dublin born grandmother admitted it only after he was dead and she was well into her eighties. Even then, looking carefully around her room in the nursing home, my grandmother whispered the long suspected secret and warned that it was not to be spoken of outside the family.
