Fox orders new 24 pilot with none of the original cast

It’s official: Fox is making a new version of 24. 

Also official: The reboot will have an all-new cast, with producers currently seeking an African-American actor to take over for longtime series star Kiefer Sutherland.

Maybe not. He did "endorse" Obama, but he's still a Canadian and can't vote in the US.

In Hollywood, Obama endorsements are like [a part of human anatomy] -- everybody has one (and is one).

I wonder how quickly every media outlet would have held Fox to the fire had they been seeking to cast 'A White Male' as a lead? Racism is racism; pick the best person for the job.

The 24 reboot is about a military hero, “Eric Carter,” who returns to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask the Counter Terrorist Unit for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Obviously no reality connections to the plotline; had a citizen asked for such assistance they would have been advised to get a restraining order and perhaps have the situation investigated after their death.

That said, I'll probably watch it until the second episode where they reveal it is some sort of domestic terrorism born from the birther movement or some other nonsense.

I don’t know about this new “24” business. It will NOT be the same without the real Jack Bauer “Damn it, Chloe, we are running out of time!” or Chloe. No one can make those kinds of sour expressions look endearing.

and it was such fun making fun of the goofballs in the show...

sometimes, shows are just iconic..like 24, the sopranos, Boardwalk Empire...
That’s why they are such hits...they ARE special..special chemistry.

What is “24” without Jack Bauer? A cheap imitation not worth watching. Lest face it Bauer represented everything the left hates; getting the job done at any cost without ROE's,many conservative values,and honoring America.

Problem is if you stop watching every show that has left wing actors portraying our values there would be precious little to watch.
They portray these characters for a reason. They know real Americans value honesty,tough love,respect for the country and Reagan values.The lizards that produce these things want to make a buck so they have to get righteous once in a while.

Oh--the version I read said they were casting someone new to play Jack. But a brand new character with a new name is the better way to go. Just as long as this "Eric Carter" is willing to shoot people in the knee caps, everything should be okay :)
