The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you won't be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn't asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!
NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.
I take Vitamin C and D. Haven’t had a really bad hum dinger since I started doing that. Also, drink tea with rose hips and a little raw honey to sooth the throat.
Thanks for the pictures. I am sure some people will like to have those seeds. I am not big on greens, but am slowly learning to like spinach again.
When I was a kid, I always liked spinach, and ate the other kids spinach and my teacher’s spinach at school. Not sure how they seasoned it, but never was able to choke it down when I made it at home.
Have been experimenting with stir fry and quiche recipes.
BRRRR.
Saw this about pineapples grown in manure and urine:
Ugh. God Love it. I hate that part! Stay warm. You are one day closer to being over it, every day.
God Bless.
Can someone put me on a ping list?
I need to buckle down once and for and for and learn how to garden.
I’ve a complete failure every time I tried.
this year, I’m determined to do better and I need a place to ask questions.
our brocolli and caulflower crops are incredable! Brussel sprouts taking off. Just need to get some good sun (too much rain is not good). Wife has sprouts for the early spring crop going and about ready to put in green house. this has been a good winter.
I try to keep the greenhouse at 50 at night no more than 90 during the day. It takes two years to grow a pineapple from a top and about 18 months from a sucker. Once the pineapple forms and begins to grow the plant will start developing suckers usually about five to seven. You can let the suckers grow and they will produce a smaller fruit or remove and root them for a very large fruit. They give me something to do during the winter.
I’m right on the “border” of 7A and 7b.
The fall line on the James River is right at Richmond, VA. I guess that’s why Richmond is where it is, can’t row upriver with all the rocks. It probably accounts for the climate as well.
