Free Republic Caucus 2016 Open Discussion Thread
Free Republic ^ | 20 January 2016 | Windflier

Posted on 01/20/2016 12:07:10 AM PST by Windflier

Thought I'd open up a discussion thread in case anyone wants to talk about the ongoing Caucus thread that Doughty One has created for us tonight.

Per the rules, there's no discussion allowed on the Caucus thread itself. Votes only (or your vote will be disqualified).

Let 'er rip here.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: 2016election; election2016; frcaucus2016

One other comment.

Folks, we have threads all over the forum where we are debating stridently who to vote for, and giving each other a hard time.

Whatya say we leave the debating to the other threads.

Let’s talk about the pros and cons of the FR Caucus, and the results here

We should have a haven from the storm.

It’s okay if folks wish to vote for Bush or anyone else.

We may not agree, but we shouldn’t badger people so that they don’t feel they can be honest.

Let’s not attack their votes elsewhere.

Pretend you couldn’t see their ballot.

Let’s treat this like an election, because that’s what it is.

Thanks everyone...

I saw one vote for Jeb before I left the thread. That was a real surprise.

Goldwater lost because JFK had been assassinated.

JFK was in Dallas that fateful day, because even with LBJ's fine Italian hand directing the voter fraud, JFK would have lost BIG TIME the next year.

One for jebbie

I'm glad someone voted for Jeb. I was tempted to give the poor, lonely guy a vote just because it's his turn. He's the next Bush in line. He's waited years for his chance. He has the money and the inside backing. It must be terribly sad to look out at empty rooms that were supposed to be packed with supporters and realize it's you they don't like.

Sorry, I can’t bring myself to feel sorry for jebbie; he never should have run.

Thanks again for taking the initiative to put this daily poll together. I think it will go a long way toward calming much of the fractious infighting we’re now experiencing, as day by day, the members will begin to see an overall consensus developing around one candidate.

As you tally the daily votes would it also be possible to count the disqualified ballots?

This is such a good idea, that I think it would be great if the mods would help out by removing any unrelated posts from the threads.

That’s why I put the discussion thead up. I’d be happy to create a new one each day if you like.

I feel sorry for him. I wouldn’t actually vote for a pro-Amnesty “Act of Love” candidate, but I’ve spent enough time around candidates who had no chance and couldn’t understand why to feel sympathy.

Just glancing at the votes so far looks like a 50/50 split between Trump and Cruz.

Now you know why the Establishment wants to divide Cruz and Trump voters.

The good news is the Establishment candidates are all tanking. And that is just not on Free Republic, but all polls nation wide.

Carson was pushed in and never should have thrown his hat into the ring. Most of the low percenters shouldn't have either and should have gotten got long ago.

jebbie was crazy to get in; everyone knew that he wouldn't make it but him.

I think it’s a clever idea, and I’ll be interested to see the results.

I was amused to see the number of people who could not or would not follow the clear instructions.

1. I had also wondered if it might calm things. We’ll see. Interesting thought.

2. I will be posting the number of invalidated votes. I won’t provide the specific breakdown, because that would simply validate the vote, since folks could then add the numbers to each candidate’s totals.

3. It will not be possible to remove posts. Questions would arise, were some candidate’s votes being removed arbitrarily. Was a decent idea though. The thread becomes a record of sorts, for verification.

No offense, but both the Caucus thread and Discussion thread are being moderated by Trump supporters.

Is this thing going to stay objective?
