I am so sick of the lack of logic used on Free Republic when some argue either for or against Trump or Ted Cruz whom I do not support, or at least a declaratory opinion/argument by a creeper who AT LEAST explains his or her line of reasoning/thinking.
All of the blustern(either made up in someone's mind) or taken directly from either of the campaigns (which are not based ON ANY evidence other than the candidate or a surrogate's opinions are worth NOTHING).
As conservatives, libertarians, tea partiers, Christians, constitutionalists, nationalists/Proud Americans, Republicans, yes even some moderates, shouldn't we at least try to elevate the conversation when we debate? Let's try out reason, logic, respect and facts, huh?
While we're at it can we cut out the snark, name calling and personal attacks that have become the norm around here just because someone supports a candidate you don't like! I'll admit that I am not guilt free on this charge, and to anyone I have personally offended occasionally either intentionally or not I ask forgiveness. I try to keep my conversations civil as both a. Christian and conservative.

Thanks for summarizing the main reason I have only casually browsed FR the last several years. It has gotten so bad lately, I was finally inspired to post. Only to be met with the same vitriol.
One thing to keep in mind, is the lefties have an easy place to go find quotes from “right wing extremists” and so many of these are now disgusting childish and crass.

When I see "conservatism" used with the " " around a perfectly good word that once was bedrock here, and I wonder what message that is sending, that has nothing to do with judging a man's heart.
I think there should be a forum on FR for real thinkers and intellectuals. The posters who are always drunk like Humblegunner (is he still humping Jim Bob’s stump?) can post their drivel in the dummies corner.
I don’t accept the premise that logic is a main ingredient in how most people select a President. The masses vote based on whether they like him, identify with him, they way he looks and carries himself and numerous emotional reasons. Some use logic for sure but I would not count on the masses to use it — the masses that elected Obama twice.
It does seem like there are a lot of Liberal Trolls lurking in wait to demonize anyone they see as a threat to Hillary or Bernie.
I think what has happened in this country over the last 10 years could be a great big cause of what you are referring to in your post...Just my opinion.....
Sorry, I’m not going to ask our moderators to be nitty gritty hall monitors. Posters need to concentrate on keeping their own hands clean. Cordial disengagement when it gets too hot is good.
Conservatism includes self-governance, self-control, responsibility, doing unto others, etc.
I’ve urged our moderators to keep a light hand on the tiller. I reserve the right to get nasty and heavy-handed myself, though.

Ergo, Obama gets elected.
Uh, when “conservatism” is used as a badge for establishment Republicans, RINOs, CINOs, etc, it must be enclosed in quotes, ie, Glenn Beck’s new “conservative” cabal.

You think it would have been nice for God to let us know who we should support.
Pretty easy to figure out if you know what He hates. Now I have to think about why King Manasseh was allowed to rule Israel when he was the first to king of Judah to practice child sacrifice. Was it because God knew he would repent but God would not forgive the nation? God does work everything out for His glory. You will see.
