The interviewee lost me at their conclusion that an advanced civilization must have limited its population. That’s an assumption that has no basis in anything but the besotted liberal mind, if you will pardon the use of “mind” in connection with a liberal.

True... at the same time, they didn’t extend themselves so far beyond their home bases that they couldn’t get supplies. Doing something at interstellar removes is a whole different story, especially when warp travel isn’t actually possible.

As long as you’re winning, you don’t have to! :-)

Well, pugnacity is going to turn in on you, sooner or later.

Even Islam can’t evade this with their perennial Sunni vs. Shiite spats. And if those didn’t exist, they’d invent some other difference.

On the other hand they could be a bunch of dicks who just ran out of more primitive locals to kill and oppress....

“True... at the same time, they didn’t extend themselves so far beyond their home bases that they couldn’t get supplies. Doing something at interstellar removes is a whole different story, especially when warp travel isn’t actually possible.”

Humans made the transition from a stone age culture to interplanetary exploration in only 10,000 years. Light can transit a distance of 100,000 light years across the width of the Milky Way Galaxy in 100,000 years. Asteroids utilized as mobile habitats can be used to transport extraterrestrial cultures throughout the galaxy and between local galaxies. When accelerated to one-hundredth of the speed of light, such an asteroidal habitat can transit the entire width of the Milky Way Galaxy in about 10,000,000 (10 Million) years. This same trip could be accomplished at such sublight speeds 100 times in each billion years, and more than 500 times since the Sun, Earth, and Solar system were formed from an earlier supernova. Extraterrestrial cultures arising after and before the Sun, Earth, and Solar System were formed have had more than enough time to use sub-light interstellar travel to colonize major areas of this galaxy. This is especially true in the event an earlier culture founded an inorganic cybernetic culture. Any culture that has solved the problems of using the asteroids as their habitat and major source of resources take their bases of supplies with them in their interstellar and perhaps their inter-galactic travels.

Supplying a motivation to a culture far in advance of ours, without any information on that culture is:

A)Clearly Anthropomorphic

B)Baseless Speculation

c)Fun to argue about?

DK

Extrapolating our technology to theirs...speed of light barriers, expansion problems, etc. is the same.

Our greatest advancements into space were made as an adjunct to warfare.

Why should other intelligent species be different?

“Supplying a motivation to a culture far in advance of ours, without any information on that culture is:”

“A)Clearly Anthropomorphic”

Experience up to this point in time has demonstrated more advanced intelligence and technology has enabled the universal motivation for survival to anticipate threats and neutralize those threats before the threats reach fruition. In the absence of no contact with any more advanced species or culture, there is no currently available example of a species that is not motivated to neutralize species competing in the same environment.

“B)Baseless Speculation”

Motivations based upon universal conditions for adaptation and survival are observed realities and cannot be dismissed as baseless.

“c)Fun to argue about?”

Until the alien colonists arrive....

“Why should other intelligent species be different?”

That is correct. It is a means for survival by adaptation, which also conveys the means for a failure to survive by failing to implement a successful adaptation.

Ha! Only humans are fallen, so don’t expect to meet the aliens until after Satan is chained up for a thousand years and God’s Son says it’s safe for them to visit. Then we might be able to take a ride with them.

Tell that to the folks that used to live on Mars. According to Dr. John Brandenburg, Mars underwent a horrendous atomic attack based upon the Xenon 129 readings. Happened around 200-250 mya. Was enough to scour the planet. Thats why the only things left were the “Monuments Of Mars.”

“If an alien species has the ability for interstellar travel they will see us just like we would see a Neanderthal.
Not worth saving.”

At one time, yes. But what would happen if an island was found with living Neanderthals now? Not wanton murder or slavery. In fact, there would be violence from humans to stop it if someone tried that.

Of course anything we speculate on is always going off an example of exactly one, us.

It’s an intriguing mental exercise to think about such things, but in the end we have to fall back on those good old spiritual principles, yes the ones in the bible that talks about a God who created the universe for His pleasure.

If it weren’t for grace, nothing would happen at all. This is even apart from the question of sin, and what would righteousness and sinning look like with respect to an alien race if it existed.

Ultimately my faith remains that God is competent. If He has cameos of hostile alien races in the end times, our Christ is the same as the Christ that rules the universe and won’t have any trouble dealing with them.

We are enlightened enough to want to keep those Neanderthals around now. They would be another illustration of the details of God’s providence. We’d certainly like to attempt to discuss things with them, if they possessed the capacity.
