How Old IS Donald Trump Emotionally?
News Machete ^ | 1/27/2016 | Ed Straker

What would you say Donald Trump's emotional age is? The reason I ask is because of his very questionable, even childish behavior. Everyone he disagrees with is called a "loser" or "stupid" or "failing". This is the language children use in criticizing one another. Instead of responding to each other's arguments, children just give blanket assertions that the others around them are bad. That is exactly what Trump does.

Ted Cruz may say he disagrees with Donald Trump's longstanding support for partial birth abortion, but Donald Trump will just respond that Ted Cruz is "dumb" or "unlikeable". It's no different from a child calling another child a dootie-head.

Another childish characteristic is excessive egotism. When Mitt Romney and John McCain were ahead in primary polls, they didn't spend 20 minutes of each rally reading off each and every poll. They touched on it and moved on. But Trump can't talk about it enough; he does it to such excess, that he is like a child at a swimming pool calling for his parents' attention, saying "Look at me, look at me!".

The same goes for Trump repeating how smart he is, because he transferred into Wharton college and has an uncle who taught at MIT (as if that has anything to do with anything). Ted Cruz is way smarter than Donald Trump, but somehow Cruz doesn't start every speech by saying, "I know I'm smart; I went to Harvard." There is something very insecure, very childlike, about a candidate who needs to repeat how smart he is over and over, like a teenager who is unsure of himself.

Children also get easily offended. Because Trump feels offended by Megyn Kelly, he is avoiding the next debate. That is not the behavior of a rational adult. Nor is going on twitter to "poll" his supporters to get their opinion. A rational adult is not afraid of tough questioning, even from biased questioners. But Trump is acting like a small child saying, "It's not fair! It's not fair!"

Even his policy prescriptions are childlike. When asked about Obamacare, he says he will replace it with something "great". The same goes for veteran's care and a whole host of issues. The solution will be "great", but unspecified. This is what fifth graders are chided for when they write essays without getting into specifics. But Trump is not writing a fifth grade essay, he is running for President. "Make America Great!" is as childish as it is unspecific. What, exactly, does Great mean? I suspect even Donald does not know.

The lack of filter on his thoughts, such as when he called people in Iowa "stupid", or when he "jokes" about shooting people on fifth avenue, is another example of childlike behavior. Children start to grow up when they learn not to say every thought that crosses their minds, and to express things in a way that doesn't offend others. Donald Trump never learned that.

In fact, Donald Trump has a child-like unawareness of how the things he says comes off as offensive. I would put his emotional age at about 10 years old, but not just an average 10 years old but a self-absorbed 10 year old, perhaps suffering from a form of autism. Part of the problem may be genetic (maybe he got it from that uncle who was an MIT professor!) but a lot of it, I think, probably originated from being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. When he's given hundreds of millions of dollars at a young age that's going to change a person. It short circuits a person's need to get along with others and makes them arrogant and unresponsive, like a child. That's Donald Trump.

FR is dissolving. There is no debate here. It is mob rule and those who drank the koolaid care nothing about truth, only about lying and trashing all who disagree with their Dear Leader who is as worthy as Kim un-Jong.

I would sure like to see more debate on FR. The name calling is embarrassing. I'm a newbie so I won't say more than that because I don't want go to that zot place I hear about.

"Megyn? Is that you? You look like you've got blood coming out of your whatever, am I right?"

If you're Donald Trump, you act like an immature brat. It's what you do.

I assume you would like Trump, the 4th grader’s, net worth?

<><><><

No, that sounds like something you are more likely to covet, since you brought his wealth into the discussion.

Can you imagine the panic if there was another situation like the Cuban missile crisis and this 4th grade name calling buffoon was at the helm.

"10 year mentality."

Really? Trump is regarded as a man without talent. It is a shame that he is run down just to make others look good.

If it happens you will survive.

I was sent to the Gulag many moons ago (2004) When G.W. was in full scale RINO Mode. He pissed me off to no end with the expansion of Medicare Perscription coverage and his “I’ll see you at the signing” comments about Amnesty/Immigration Legislation when asked about the Republican base being against it. I referred to him one to many times as Jorge Delano Arbusto on this site. I wouldn’t back down and suddenly I was overtaken by a sudden burst of light. Poof I was gone.

Don’t lose faith. In two years if that, many will be hiding in shame for their support of Trump or flat out denying they had anything to do with his rise in the world of politics.

I honestly fear for my Country. Trump IMHO is NOT the answer.

I am so like him I can not imagine growing up any more. I don’t even want to!

I am 80 years young and enjoy every day. Many of my friends are of a similar age and are stuck in their ways at maybe 15 years old. They can not see both sides of any issue. They defend their hometown, NY, and can not see that it has any “issues”.

I enjoy every day and do what I can to make others happy and surprised by my actions. I have little to give but do what I can. Yesterday was paying for the food of a man at a fast food place just because he waited for me to get to the door and held it open for me. The day before I gave a lovely child 1$ and a dime for tax so she could pick out something at the Dollar Store by herself.

My NY friend would have laughed at me and probably hurried to beat someone to one place forward in the line. This would be followed by a choice of table that she found acceptable, only after asking the management to send someone to clean it! 25 years is a long time to give up a friend...I know you are saying WHY?? Maybe I too an immature and have Trump like ideals...I hope so!

You seem to have missed the point. It is not what Romney should have done at the time. Again, should any Rep agree to a debate where Candy Crowley is the moderator?

That is a whole lot different than throwing a temper tantrum and proclaiming those mean ole people are not treating me fair so I am taking my marbles and going home.

Fox is working with Google to take Trump out. The Anti-Trump Network: Fox News Money Flows into Open Borders Group

This debate was added to the original list. It was not scheduled at the outset of the debate list. Trump is smart enough not to walk into an ambush. We will see how he does in Iowa and NH to see if the strategy pans out.

It will be interesting to see if the viewership for this debate even approaches the 24 million for the first debate. The GOP should get down on its knees every day and thank Trump for being in the race. He is the one garnering the viewership, the huge enthusiastic crowds, and new people into the political process.

The GOPe including the faux-conservatives are in the Trump delenda est camp. We had a complete edition of a "conservative" magazine dedicated to taking Trump out. The RNC was forced to remove NR from being a moderator at an upcoming debate.

Trump is working within the GOP unlike Perot. Trump signed the loyalty pledge. Yet we have so-called Reps who say they will not vote for him if he is the candidate. Trump is playing chess while the others are playing checkers.

I've read The Art of the Deal. The question isn't reading it; it's understanding it.

See, most Trump supporters assume that Trump's "dealing" is with the MSM or the Democrats (at least once he wins). That may be true. What they don't seem to realize is that he is also "dealing" with them!

He wants your vote. So he is doing exactly what he said he would do in the book... to you. Let's look at some of the lessons, shall we:

Make it big and important or don't do it at all.
Everyone likes to do business with a winner.
You don't sell, you thrill.
Go on offense, not defense.

It's pretty obvious that Trump is following his own advice in his campaign. Trump is overpromising ("thrill" & "make it big") in order to convince voters to "buy" him. Does he plan on keeping these promises to the letter? Not according to his book (just enough to avoid the buyer feeling ripped off). He's constantly insulting other candidates ("offense") and bragging about how successful he is ("with a winner"). He's selling you on the product that is Trump. Trump knows that most Republican voters are tired of losing on policy even when they "win" by electing Republicans to office. They are starved for a "winner"! So he's going to give you a chance to be part of the "winning" team... even if he hasn't really told you what "winning" means.

It amuses me that the same people who seem to believe that Trump is going to really put one over on the Democrats, because he's such a good salesman, also believe that they are somehow immune to the same thing themselves from Trump. Based on what I read on Free Republic... not so much...

I am amazed that this puerile DU-loaded thread has posted 74 replies.

Meanwhile, in the middle of mindless political overload, some clueless FR moderator responded to a "computer related" question with pure sarcasm, and he/she it deletes the thread! A question of blessed relief from all the Trump haters and little else.

Meanwhile, Free Republic is at the beginning of another fund raising quarter...

Yes, the world has gone mad...

Yeah, yeah, MSM, what else should I expect?
