OREGON STANDOFF LATEST: FOUR LEFT AT REFUGE, PATRIOTS CALLED TO ACTION, CROSS APPEARS AT DEATH SITE
1/30/2016 | Self

Posted on 01/30/2016 4:42:05 AM PST by Nextrush

There are still four people occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Harney County, Oregon.

David Fry, Jeff Banta, Sean Anderson and his wife Sandy are still there with the FBI saying negotiations are going on around the clock.

The four want safe conduct out and decided not to leave after the FBI arrested others like Jason Patrick who left the refuge with promises of safe conduct out.

The imprisoned leader of the occupation, Ammon Bundy, has called for the occupation to end, but the FBI's conduct with people leaving is putting a roadblock in the way.

The Pacific Patriot Network, which was negotiating to get people out, said it felt double crossed by the FBI's actions. On Thursday, the group called for a mobilization of patriots in the Burns, Oregon area.

Intitial reports spoke of a gathering today, but new reports speak of a Monday gathering in Burns. The PPN statement uses the words 'PEACEFULLY assemble within Burns, Oregon immediately.'

The PPN issued a statement yesterday with some demands including the resignation of local officials like Judge Stephen Grasty and Sheriff Dave Ward and the "Immediate removal of all militarized FBI personnel and equipment from Harney County."

It also called for the detention of the FBI Special Agent in Charge and all FBI and other law enforcement involved in the fatal shooting of LaVoy Finicum.

After their announcement, the profile of the FBI-Oregon State Police roadblocks in the area of the refuge was reduced with a pulling back of gear that included armored vehicles. Perhaps this was designed to prevent any confrontation.

Meanwhile a five foot tall wooden cross has appeared along US Route 395 north of Burns at the site where Robert "LaVoy" Finicum was shot to death Tuesday afternoon when the authorities arrested occupation leaders.

The snow is still bloodstained at the site of the cross, made of 2 by 4's.

Yesterday, a federal magistrate ordered two of the ten people who were arrested, Shawna Cox and Joseph O'Shaughnessy, released.

Is there something more important going on than the political porn show in Iowa right now?

There sure is.

The fight in Oregon and other western states is truly one about 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness' as laid out in our nation's Declaration of Independence.

LaVoy Finicum is denied his life, the Hammonds are denied their liberty (the ranchers whose imprisonment led to the occupation), and all the across the Western states farmers, ranchers and loggers are denied their pursuit of happiness by federal restrictions on the land.

Perhaps Mr. Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz could get their priorities straight at this time in history.

I have no time to be drawn into the pants on the ground drama playing out over the caucus in this forum and elsewhere.

There's something more worthwhile than the political porn show to worry about.

Actually my theory is.....if the police/fib had just left and left them alone eventually they would have all just drifted back home.

Universities usually, and the OWS specifically, were on private property.

Even though the private property owner of the OWS park that was seized did not press charges, hundreds of the squatters were arrested and charged anyway.

Neither university protests or the OWS involved federal law enforcement, but local authorities.

the full force of the Federal government with the active collusion of a Democrat governor, a racist Attorney General and a Marxist racist President,”””

You forgot that the ‘Sheriff’ is a former BLM employee. He has had a conflict of interest in this from the first jump.

Think Waco & Ruby Ridge.

There is nothing that anyone can trust with the Obama administration.

Safe passage was a lure to get them out & them ambush them, IMO.

Would not be difficult to have a silenced .22 rifle put a round into his side, just so he would reach for it.

People are just going to die or end up rotting in prison if they oppose the Feds.

That is the message that our imperial overlords wanted to send to us peasants. OBEY or suffer... more than we are going to make you suffer.

IT DOESN’T MATTER! And I am sorry, but OWS parked out in public parks. Trust me.

Public universities are public property.

And NONE OF THEM DESERVE THIS KIND OF RESPONSE. This response is an overreach of a government.

The government doesn’t act this way when people are being assaulted on campuses (currently going on in Denver). Why should they be excused for this response for people who are sitting there. They weren’t killing anyone, they weren’t even threatening anyone.

You are wrong if you think the government’s response to this was warranted.

EXACTLY. Anytime the government gets involved, it always goes wrong.

or, in this case, it seemed that non-lethal force could have been used. The old man was up to his knees in snow with nowhere to go.

I am normally pro-law enforcement on shootings unless the situation is apparently fishy. This one is fishy.

Put the agents that shot on trial. It is the only way to figure out what happened.

Have you watched the video?

They didn’t just try to pull over the vehicle. They followed him with vans full of swat appearing people.

Would not be difficult to have a silenced .22 rifle put a round into his side, just so he would reach for it.

Having had the same thought, I tried it on an old heavy coat. Depending on the round (Fiocchi and Gemtech Subsonic listed at 1020 and 1010 fps, CCI quiet at 710 fps, Aguila Super Colibri at 500 fps, and Aguila Colibri at 375 fps), they were all very quiet when fired from a silenced bolt action rifle with a non-metal target six inches behind the coat. Fiocchi, Gemtech, and CCI penetrated the coat, although they all gave it a good push.

That would require premeditation, and I expect better from the FBI, no matter how evil their boss's boss is. I don't think even Obama's FBI would go quite that far, I hope, but I've been wrong just about every other time I though even Obama wouldn't stoop "that low" and he went even lower.

They could also try to join other groups interested in public land use. OHV operators, miners, loggers, hunters, fishermen, farmers. Any other group being squeezed by government resource policy. If everytime BLM or the FS or NOAA decided to rule by fiat they faced not only the aggrieved party, but a unified front of these people, things would change. People that doubt that need to look at the successes of gin rights groups. Concealed carry permits don’t happen because dipsticks go to Starbucks with their AR slung across their chest. They happen because a unified front of gun owners pushed for change.

I won't trust you on that point, because I know the two parks that OWS seized - I watched the entire travesty unfold in real time, in person. One was owned by the Brookfield corporation and the other was owned by the Episcopal Church.

And the law absolutely does matter, as does the distinction between public and private.

Public universities are typically owned by the state, not the federal government. And they are typically policed by campus police or municipal police, not even by state police.

The government's response to the Malheur protest was: give them free heat and electricity, allow them regular parcel service and trips into town for supplies, give them access to press conferences and public forums, let them do whatever they want.

The protestors' response was: not only will we do whatever we want, we will destroy property too, plus we expect to be immune from traffic stops - we want special rights that no one else has.

There is no way federal law enforcement could have been more accomodating or lenient. You're basically arguing that Finicum was entitled to draw on a peace officer during a traffic stop. That makes less than no sense.

OWS did not just happen in your community. It happened across this country, including Denver.

How about the government turn off utilities and back off. If you watch the video, this wasn’t a simple traffic stop. They followed them with swat dressed officers in vans.

Simple traffic stop - oh, gee, one cop, one car, and I violated a traffic regulation.

You are wrong on this, and you know it. Defending this over-reaction by the government just empowers them to be more egregious next time.

Next time it might be you. And where will your defenders be? Remember that.
