I agree. I know nothing about this woman or her business, but if you can't do a proper interview or...fire someone for malfeasance then you've only yourself to blame.
Millenials are product of decades and decades of leftist education, the nanny state and the perverse incentives of massive DEBT - both government and private.
Its not just millenials. America has over 90 million working-age adults not working. They are basically wards of our progressive state and monetary system.
Sound like my experiences with Austin Texas restaurants.
The number one reason for restaurant failure in our town points directly to the performance of the staff. Restaurants have big trouble hiring good people, and those that they can find aren’t willing to provide good service. A sense of entitlement and a bad attitude are all too common.
She complains they whine.....and they subsequently whine....
She is right about young workers for the most part.
I do not fear the Zombie Apocalypse as we are surrounded by them already.
I'm guessing that she hired the cheapest she could, and got what she paid for.
Most generally don’t know how to do much independently. Makes me wonder about the expectations of and training by the parents in the home environment. Not much of a “hustle” attitude in too many of them.
What are these self-absorbed Millenials going to do when most business owners will be able to choose robots over them? There will be few jobs left in the West.
And people complained about Generation X slackers...
I’ll take a robot any day over some of those young entitled waitstaff. I’ve been amazed to see more than one restaurant hostess slurping down a soda she has stashed at her stand or to see a wait person coming out of the kitchen still chewing food. And they want the government to mandate minimum wages.
Which is why more and more you’re seeing restaurants install kiosks at tables for you to order.
You're right, you don't.........You're talking about a minimum wage job in a country with universal healthcare.
And you also know nothing about the applicant flow that is probably nonexistant, which puts this employer in a position where she has to hire anyone she can get.
I think since Canada is liberal they have a zillion laws about hiring and firing, like the USA. I couldn’t imagine trying to run a business today. If you don’t hire somebody they might make your life hell, and you can’t fire someone without “just cause”. Whatever that is?
I'm guessing she hired the only people that came into the restaurant that were half ass looking for a job and had no choice but to hire them.
As the article stated, she had no choice but to close down because she CAN'T FIND SUITABLE EMPLOYEES...........
To imply that she hired the cheapest she could find shows you know absolutely nothing about owning a restaurant nor the overhead costs in running one.
If finding suitable employees requires paying $25 an hour, how do you think she's going to pay for them?
Makes me wonder about the expectations of and training by the parents in the home environment.

The parents hand them off to the care of strangers soon after they are born. Putting them in daycare and in before-school and after-school programs does not leave much time for parental training situations to occur.
Plus the robot does not have tattoos and piercings that you have to look at.
That is an interesting trend, plus they are trying to figure out how to turn those gizmos into revenue enhancers. Since I am a big tipper for really good service, the wait staff aren’t going to like how those like me behave.
That's what she said.
The reality, like that of tech executives moaning and whining for more H1B visas, is that they can't find suitable employees for what they want to pay.
