Trump’s decisive victory in New Hampshire and no strong runner-up among a pack of also-rans, the Republican race barreled into South Carolina on Wednesday shadowed by a question: whether any alternative candidate can gain enough support to threaten Mr. Trump’s drive to the nomination.
Gov. John Kasich of Ohio, the second-place finisher in New Hampshire with less than half the support of Mr. Trump, arrives in this more conservative Southern state where he has little staff or support. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, resuming an effort here to enlist the Christian right, the key to his victory in Iowa, faces a playing field where evangelical voters are far less monolithic. And former Gov. Jeb Bush, buoyed by outperforming his Florida rival Senator Marco Rubio, has a chance to open more daylight — but it is unclear if it will be enough to inspire establishment-leaning Republicans to coalesce behind him.

Probably the closest to this was Sarah Palin. She was a dynamo, had the head of ticket been Trump it would have been a runaway steamroller.
The hope and excitement Trump and Sanders are generating is due largely because we have really hit the extreme of an unresponsive and oppressive govt that has really put the hurt to a lot of ppl and families. With Trump ppl really see a hero who could right the wrongs.
Also the power of social media is allowing more ppl to have their say and bypass regular media. So it brings in a lot of ppl and that generates energy throughout their day.
I see some are predicting future results based on past events. I submit that all that is going on today has no equal in recent American history.
A perfect storm is developing across America which includes both the left and the right. Americans are very unhappy with the place our elite leaders (in both parties) have brought us to.
Americans as a whole have determined career politicians have sold them out, and look for someone, anyone, that appears to understand their concerns, and more importantly will act on those concerns if elected.
For those on the left you would think they would support Obama’s replacement, Clinton, but few really trust her, and fewer yet like her. I believe they are supporting Sanders because while a career politician, he has remained independent and proudly claims who he is, a socialist.
For those on the right who for years have been demonized by the left, the media and the elite in their own party they are looking for someone who is not afraid to stand up and give their concerns a voice. They understand Trump is not a white in shining armor, pure in his action or beliefs. He is more like a combat infantryman that you might not want to date your sister, but would like to be in your foxhole when the SHTF.
Well we are living in dangerous times, part of the reason we have gotten here is because our elite leaders (again from both parties) have been too busy shaping our society to meet their Utopian goals and not worried about any other minor problems like employment, or ISIS, or Muslims moving to take over the world.
They are more interested in transforming this nation into the perfect socialist world where minorities rule the majority.
And the full weight of the government is used to force individual to go against their beliefs while allowing our nation to be invaded.
No, this election is not like any other in recent history, Americans are angry, and their first action will be to take it out on the establishment.
I certainly hope that those in power today get the idea that they can “steal” the election and remain in power because I believe this anger is running deep and there is most likely going to be some sort of back lash.

Joe, SC has re-elected that lite in the loafers Graham repeatedly and elected Nikki Haley. SC may claim evangelical but they don’t seem to live it strongly. I think SC will be a tough sell for Cruz and maybe even Trump. I have family there and they find the voters weird. I will give Cruz he has a strong group on the ground there.

KASICH (4) is in fourth, of all things... for the moment. Carly got the one delegate in IA, Christie and Gilmore continue to get nothing but campaign money. Carson (3) got 2.3 pct in NH but is expected to get back to 8-9 in SC, and maybe a few delegates, but I predict he will drop out after Super Tuesday when the campaign money dries up and he is in fourth, behind 290-220-140-40 (Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Carson)

I hope we’re coming back (if not “full” circle, at least partially) to where we were at early in the campaign...where Cruz and Trump will be shutting the others out of the allocation state delegates. That way, in combination with the “take all” state delegates, we can prevent any shenanigans at the convention.

Graham is from South Carolina and the incumbent. Trump isn’t. South Carolina dumped Romney in 2012 for the more conservative Gingrich, despite Romney’s big win in New Hampshire.
Plus even in South Carolina, Graham continued to poll in very low figures for the GOP primaries.

WAY off!!!! Trump has won the second state, his first out of 50. It's 1-1 for now. There is a lot of race left, and as most have been saying for months, "Only Trump can topple Trump and his mouth seems to keep trying".

No, Trump has been polling ahead in most states, but his numbers never seem to top 39 pct, anywhere. He may have hit his ceiling. He NEEDS momentum right now... but he can get by for many weeks with just standing pat on his current polling numbers. It is up to the others to catch him. The race is to 1,237 delegates. It's standing at 17-10 today. Texas (on March 1) has 155 alone, and recently polled 45-30, Cruz. On March 2, I see the numbers around 290-220-140-60 (Donald, Ted, Marco, Ben)

But has been remarkably consistent for quite a long time. Cruz has never won a SC poll and Trump has won well over 90% of them.
Godless because Trump continued to boast about screwing other men’s wives in two of his books and hasn’t shown the slightest remorse about it.
