Rick Perry to Help Recruit Veterans for Ted Cruz (Chris Kyle's Widow, Seal Marcus Luttrell)
Texas Tribune ^ | 2/12/2016 | Patrick Svitek

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Former Gov. Rick Perry is joining a new group that plans to organize veterans in support of Ted Cruz's presidential campaign.

The group, a super PAC known as Keep the Promise to Veterans, will allow Perry to ramp up his involvement in Cruz's presidential effort after endorsing the U.S. senator from Texas last month. Perry, an Air Force veteran, has already recruited some supporters of his own to help with the super PAC: former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer and Taya Kyle, the widow of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle.

"As you know, Gov. Perry's passionate about veterans' issues, and he wants to make sure that veterans issues do not get lost in the discourse and decided that getting involved this way would be an ideal way to keep veterans issues at the forefront," said Kathy Walt, the treasurer of the super PAC and a former chief of staff to Perry.

Keep the Promise to Veterans was officially formed Thursday, according to records with the Federal Election Commission. It is listed as affiliated with three other pro-Cruz super PACs organized under the Keep the Promise umbrella.

Well.....

I haven't seen that in a while.

Camaraderie.

I would hope we all seek the same thing. The shining city on the hill Reagan, may his soul rest in peace, spoke of. The greatest nation to have ever existed. The nation which asks nothing of the world but freedom and peace and cooperation for the betterment of all.

This country full of many different people, who only wish for a good life for themselves and their families. The nation which gives without strings when disasters occur. The nation which sees sickness and wants to heal, sees poverty and wants to help those less fortunate help themselves and lift themselves out of their misery. This nation, which defends the weak, opposes the tyrants, creates wonders which awe the multitudes.

We love this country so much, it pains our hearts and souls to see it debased and maligned by cynical and powerful entities within our own government. We know who and what we are and we are not the racists, sexist, phobia riddled neanderthals the Left portrays us to be.

I want, so badly, to have a conservative, freedom loving, tyranny opposing, morally upright, Constitutional leader in the WH. A leader with core values that are strong and who loves the nation and their creator with all of their heart and being.

Tearing down and vilifying your opposing candidates makes the road harder to travel. Each seemingly minor political wound weakens the chances.

Too bad those fine folks can't make Cruz more electable. Don't get me wrong. Cruz is an excellent public servant. But we need to win this time.

Polls: Cruz Would Fare 5 Points Better Versus Clinton Than Trump Would

I knew you would be a long time FReeper by the wisdom in your comment.

I was so sure primaries, my first one, would never get to me.

ah, let the Trump people enjoy the rally threads. Why shouldn’t they They earned it.

honestly, we on here have been a lot rougher on each other than Ted and Donald have been.

They’ll patch things up once this is over.

I totally believe Cruz would be a more popular candidate.

Why vote for Hillary lite?

But as far as the general is concerned, I hope the mean, hateful Trumpsters regret all they’ve done.

Most of us will vote for the nominee, even if it’s Trump, but that might be all we’ll do.

After the hurt you’ve put on us, don’t expect a lot of love.

I’m actually a native of So. Cal, I’ve been here in Vegas since 2000.

Funny thing, when I lived in Cali I visited the strip more often than I do now that I live here, here I avoid it at all costs!!

I think I’ve gambled here maybe 6 or 7 times in the last 15 years...thank God I don’t have that addiction.

I live in NW Vegas, about 7 miles from the strip, living here is just like any other city...except for the machines in the stores which I ignore.

Let me know next time you visit, maybe we could meet for lunch or something...you wouldn’t be the first FReeper I’ve met here in Vegas.

If Trump is the nominee, I would hope he picks a good man, like Cruz, as a running mate. I expect whoever gets the nod to know and understand that we will hold his feet to the fire. We have been misled before. Lied to, fooled, tricked, coerced to take the party’s choice and support them, even though they turned to the dark side many times. enough is enough. No more looking the other way and “compromising” principles. The standard bearer must say what he means and mean exactly what he says. He must fight for what is right and not give in to the special interests or the shrill media. He must be strong and steadfast. We have had enough of the spineless, weak willed, game players who break out into the Potomac Two Step whenever the going gets too rough.

The sad thing is that after having to go to the polls during the last two elections and vote for second-rate choices: McCain and Romney ... we have a chance this time to have a real conservative, a good guy and a person of values who can be trusted.

What I cannot figure out is why so many here are attracted to Trump. ?????

If Trump gets the nomination and picks Cruz I would campaign for him with all my heart. But I think he will pick Rubio.

Desperation.

After the likes of Dole, McCain, Romney, Boenher, pick a name.....someone with charisma comes along and it's like love....all over again. He says the right things, and I pray to God he means them.

Hehe....I wonder about myself sometimes too.

It's easy to get carried away, I know because I've done it too

But before you post, ask your self, is the post elevating the conversation or is it something that you might regret later....

I'm guilty too, but I'm trying.

I cannot see him picking Robot Rubio because the guy has done nothing, achieved noting, and lacks a work ethic. Rubio also can face lawsuits that he might win re nbc, but they would prove a major distraction. Already one lawsuit has been filed against Rubio.

I regret a lot of them!

Hot headed Sicilian blood and NYC temperament.

I’ll probably be able to say I worked down the block from the next president of the United States :)

i’ve flipped between trump and cruz 100 times. Someone says I dont know what my convictions are.

I DO!

But on any given day i’m not sure who matches them most, or who i like more or less for this reason or that reason, ah, i’m a #$@#$ing mess.

i can’t wait till this thing is over.

like i said, pulling R instead of D is easy.

Pulling R against R not so much.

I’m glad we turned this thing around. I was afraid i lost ya!

There are several reasons: D. Trump is the first to have challenged the PC and refused to back down when big businesses started to threaten him. He made a major contribution to freedom of speech. Trump challenged the media. Unlike M. Romney, he took them on. He is the first to object to bringing Muslims who hate us. He knows how to create job, understands the economy. He is outspoken and unafraid. And this is incredibly refreshing.

This does not mean that I agree with everything he does or says. I am not searching for the perfect candidate. I just want somebody that will deal with the invasion of this country.

Happy to see Dakota Meyer on this list. Probably makes Bristol so mad at her baby’s father she’ll have her ghost writer put up a mean-girl blog or facebook post...She might be mad enough to tweet!

They have each had a moment where they were involved in something big. In opinions about the election, they are not a whit better informed than I am.

You too. Again we are no where near the primary disaster that is on the Democratic side. We will easily get back in line once the nominee is. I just want to win this time and I personally think Trump is the one who will make that happen. If Cruz is the nominee, I will vote for him (don’t tell anyone) and pray hard in November that somehow he can bring in 270 electoral votes. It would be interesting if he can but if he can’t were done.

ah, we’re too smart people. Trump has it in the bag.

I believe polls. They work within 5 points. And Trump is usually up by more than 5 points.

by the tie i vote, april 15 this will be over. AND the RINOs are winning in NYC anyway among republicans. There’s a shock.

I need to move lol
