Evangelical broadcaster James Dobson Wednesday praised Ted Cruz's bid for the Republican presidential nomination, saying in a new television ad that the Texas senator is critical to naming more conservatives to the Supreme Court. "With Justice Scalia's death, we need a president who will defend the Constitution and nominate conservatives to the high court," Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said in endorsing Cruz as a private citizen.
"I know Ted," Dobson said. "He's a Christian family man of the utmost integrity."

Dobson isn’t doing that. Give it a break.
+1
Well stated.
“He is the Spongebob Squarepants attacker, right?”
No. You don’t even have that right.
That was Jerry Falwell, and the cartoon character was a Teletubby.
And Falwell didn’t invent the issue, he based his allegation on an article in Salon that said that one of the Teletubbies was intended as a gay role model.
So stop impugning Dobson’s good name. You’re offending everyone who knows Dobson’s character, Trump supporters as well as Cruz.
Dr. James Dobson is not a pastor. He is a Christian psychologist who founded a very effective and helpful organization called Focus on the Family and was paid a salary for running a large organization such as would be expected. I have never heard him criticized for how he ran Focus on the Family. In fact, he has a virtually spotless reputation and is an example of how more Christian leaders should behave. So, please take your nasty smears of a good Christian man off FR.
No, it’s Dobson. Google it.
Maybe so.
The picture of my children dying of starvation, dehydration, or disease is not a pretty picture. The picture of Islamist terrorists raping and beheading my children is not a pretty picture.
Once that danger has been dealt with we can deal with the GOPe. GOPe isn’t going to matter if an EMP hits.
“I also want to say that there are several Trump supporters on this thread who are very reasonable people who have been making reasoned arguments and have been defending Dr. Dobson even though they disagree with his endorsement of Cruz.”
Thanks for this.
.....”some posters on here who have turned on anyone they used to respect such as Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin just because they have not supported Trump.....”
(That should be a wake up call on the “sudden” change)
.....” They also are willing to change their views on issues such as eminent domain and funding for planned parenthood just to agree with Trump.”.......
(psychologists call that “cognitive consistency.”....whereby People will ‘rearrange their beliefs ‘ to produce an unswervingly positive view of a candidate. Even crystal-clear evidence of Trumps past liberalism will be ignored or rationalized away.)
.......”That is cult like behavior and not all Trump supporters have done this but there are more than a few that have.”.........
A CULT OF PERSONALITY ARISES WHEN ‘’’’AN INDIVIDUAL USES MASS MEDIA,’’’’’’ PROPAGANDA, OR OTHER METHODS, TO CREATE AN IDEALIZED, HEROIC, AND AT TIMES WORSHIPFUL, IMAGE, OFTEN THROUGH UNQUESTIONING FLATTERY AND PRAISE.
(You can generally identify them when trying to verbalize their inexplicable adoration of Trump and regurgitate his sound bites like cult devotees listing their doctrines without being able to explain them.)
Often spoken are ......He’ll make America great again.... He’ll beat Russia.... He’ll beat China..... He’ll beat Hillary. ....He “won’t be holden to lobbyists” (as compared to not being beholden to them). ...He’ll get rid of the immigrants. ....He’ll⦠the list of retorts really isn’t that long but there’s no need to list them all. You get the point.
His supporters are not stupid. They are naive. Their willingness to buy into his sales pitch without vetting out his claims, examining his policy proposals, or taking common sense into account when reconciling his unbelievable shift to Republican ideals across the board makes them naive.

Yep. And you can best believe that if there was even a hint of impropriety regarding Dobson, the MSM would have destroyed him long ago.
Your very welcome.
I hope you are not saying I compared Dobson to a televangelist.
I have been aware of James Dobson for a while. From what I’ve seen, heard and read, James Dobson is closer to a peer of the Apostles, including Paul, than 99.9% of the self-professed Christians today.
Nope. You were pinged because you were in that discussion with DSChapin that I responded to.
But you did insinuate Jeb! is an alien.
Repent!
:>)
Jeb! is an alien?
Ah... That explains a lot...
I Agee. Cruz’s position is very high legal immigration, legal status for illegals already here, and some improved enforcement, but probably no effective border wall or fence.
And Trump will have more evangelical support all over the South than Cruz. The South is not into Ted’s style of overwrought religiosity in political campaigns.
Yes picking and choosing who you are going to chastise about religious blasphemy and at the same time implying that Trump supporters see Trump as some sorta of god or messiah is being hypocritical. I’m sorry if you don’t see it that way.
Rush and Levin say they aren’t endorsing anyone but are doing a pretty good job of pushing a particular candidate. On top of that, Cruz supporters blasted Palin for her choice in endorsement. Your rationalization of why they no longer support her is no different than those being upset with Rush and Levin. What about the negative comments towards Jerry Falwell Jr. and his endorsement of Trump. Where was your complaint there. Or the Trump isn’t a Christian comments spewed daily. I don’t see you telling anyone to stop.
You want to call someone out about posting hateful rhetoric or religious blasphemy, do it on both sides. Otherwise you are being hypocritical.
Were seeing a lot of supporter subjectivism in the reactions to Ted’s lies and misrepresentations. Subjectivism is the way people deal with it. People post objective facts and supporters seem to nearly always default to ad hominem attack.
Their subjective actions me of “Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”
I hope you saw the part of my post where I pointed out that one of the two posts you quoted was actually from a Trump supporter who was mocking Cruz supporters.
